These warm spring days have the organizers at J&B SLC thinking of the white sand beaches, palm trees, and sultry sounds of the Bossa Nova. That's right, Rio De Janeiro is where we're headed with this next meet up of vocal and instrumental Jazz. Emily Merrell - vocals, Steve Keen - piano, join the Jim Guss - trio for an evening of Brazilian and Latin music by its greatest composers. Names like Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ivan Lins, Sergio Mendez. The styles of Samba, Bossas, Timbao that will make you want to get up and dance !
And as a bonus we'll be featuring two amazing young musicians to open each set. They are Elizabeth Steagall - vocalist and Nate Campbell - piano. These high school jazz musicians perform beyond their years.
This is a BYOB event at Joffee's Coffee on April 19th from 8-11pm. As usual beer and wine are fine (no hard liquor) and you need to RSVP and pay in advance. The $10 entertainment charge will pay these fine musicians and support the important work of SLC's The Road Home 501c3 non-profit.
