Speidel, Goodrich, Goggin and Lille (SGGL), formed in Charlottesville, VA in 1983 and continues to play to sell-out crowds in concert halls like the Barns at Wolf Trap, the Birchmere of D.C., Nashville's Blue Bird, Atlanta's Eddie's Attic, and New York's Wetlands. "It makes you feel good." Clever song writing, freshness, warmth, energy & wit..why not. Hundreds of college performances led SGGL to National Association of Campus Activities Music Finalist honors. SGGL also performed on the Main Stage of the 1994 Kerrville Folk Festival.
Their most recent project "On The Shoulder" is a live recording from the Wolftrap Barns and captures the way thousands have come to know and love the band, acoustic and live.
Other available CDs include the all-original "Half a World Away." Produced by Jon Carroll and recorded & mixed by Bob Dawson. The CD includes accompaniment by some of the east coast's best talent. Currently known for stellar keyboards & vocals in Mary-Chapin Carpenter's band, Carroll's history includes recent cuts of his work by Linda Ronstadt & Tom Jones, and a Grammy for vocal arrangement for Starland Vocal Band's Afternoon Delight. Also playing on the album will be J.T. Brown and Robbie Magruder (bassist & drummer for Carpenter's band), Steuart Smith (electric Guitar-Shawn Colvin Band), Eddie Hartness (percussion-Eddie from Ohio (EFO)), Keith Grimes (guitars), and background vocalists Julie Murphy (EFO) and Kim Polk.
"Just for You" a CD release of the previously all-vinyl SGG & SGL albums (Girl in Red, City Girl, Far Away, Baby Your Love Keeps me Hangin' On), plus "Headin' South: Live at the Birchmere" (I Will Go, Headin' South, Dog Song, Fulsome Pinball Blues) engineered by Grammy winner/ Birchmere sound genius Bill Wolf, are both currently available.
In early 2006, Michael Lille moved to Austin, TX for the winter to record his 4th solo record "Suitable Disguise". Co-produced by Lloyd Maines and Paul Pearcy, the new record features George Marinelli (Bonnie Raitt band), John Hagen (Lyle Lovett band) and guest vocalists include Ruthie Foster, Sara Hickman, and long time collaborators Tom Kimmel, Dana Cooper, and Tom Prasada-Rao. Previous solo projects include "Never Home To Stay" (2000), "Middle Child" (1996) and "Just In Time" (1991). Michael has also recorded projects with The Sherpas w/ Tom Kimmel and Tom Prasada-Rao "Honor Among Theives", and "The Famous Unknowns" w/ Robbin Thompson and Lewis McGehee.
In 1999 Michael took a day gig with W.L. Gore representing ELIXIR Strings and now makes his home in Lakewood, Colorado.
Tom Goodrich has won three song writing awards at two Christian Artists Music Seminars in the Rockies in Estes Park, CO. Positive feedback from Nashville's Christian music community resulted in return to music and song writing as his full-time vocation. Frequent visits to Nashville have led to three songs being published by BMG Music's Gospel Division, and one song by The Benson Company, as well as co-writing with Warner Alliance and Benson Writers. His time is shared between song writing, his wife, daughters, son, and one-on-the-way. C'ville CD-ROM guru Rusty Speidel and anti-trust barrister (is that redundant?) Michael Goggin (pictured here) perform solo engagements (typically from 9 to 5 behind a desk) and duo shows with whomever is available. They enjoy their careers, married life, sons and SGGL performances. They maintain the bands corporate feel and GQ look.
