Why Raw Food?

I started paying attention to food because I have small children and a family full of unsuspecting diabetics. After my pregnancies I have gained and lost a lot of weight (currently on the up side...). Understanding that real food is important, but even more so that uncooked food is the best fuel for your body might save me from the fate of my family members.

Have you ever fasted? If so, what kind of fast? How often?

Yes. I was on a drink diet for a period of two day every seven days for a month. I am not a fan of fasting but maybe after full commitment to raw I will feel differently.

What do you believe are the miracles of raw food? What is your favorite raw food dish?

I think that raw food is the best thing for your body, instead of burning off calories or eating low Cal, why wouldn't anyone want food that is satisfying and improves your life? I find it unfortunate that the social places to go are not more conducive to an organic raw lifestyle. My favorite foods include date and almond "snickers" with honey cacao (I know honey is not vegan, but I can't help it). I also love tacos with dehydrated red pepper shells, purple cabbage and lettuce shreds, spicy pumpkin seed puree and mango pieces. My 2 year old and I juice every morning ( it usually includes wheat grass, blueberries, and mint tea)

How do you think peace in the world is affected by health and well being?

I don't think about peace, but I think about healthcare. I am a firm believer that if everyone made raw vegan a social lifestyle I would stop hearing about so many loved ones with illness and disease. People, as myself, often loose the gauge inside that tells them to listen to their bodies. Instead of being helped by "professionals" they are medicated. That is a real problem.

Hi, I'm Heather and I am on a food journey.
