Ladytron at the Regency Ballroom

Ladytron with Sonoio Date: Sun, Sep 25, 2011 Showtime: 8:00 PM Days until show: 59 Doors open: 7:00 PM Ages: All Ages On sale now Ticket Prices*: $25.00 www.ladytron.com MySpace Page Facebook Page The narrative of the past decade of electronic music would not be complete without a chapter on Ladytron although the Liverpool-born quartet's global fan base would argue that the band wrote the book on it. Consistently placing song craft and innovation over any confining aesthetic, the foursome of Daniel Hunt, Reuben Wu, Helen Marnie and Mira Aroyo fashioned four albums of deliriously buzzing, whip-smart electro-pop that have kept them ahead of the curve, apart from the fads and in a league of their own. "We've never fit into one scene, never adhered to one set of rules and never wanted to create anything that was already accepted or in the mainstream," says Wu now, reflecting on a decade highlighted by principal releases "604 (2001), "Light & Magic" (2002), "Witching Hour" (2005) and "Velocifero" (2008). Those albums, surveyed on the career-spanning "Best of Ladytron:[masked]," reflect the quartet's deftly executed (and delightfully subversive) dualities: primordial grooves vs. lushly layered synths; sanguine melodies vs. shimmering atmospherics; and art-house detachment vs. the poignant narratives delivered by dueling sirens Marnie and Aroyo. Ladytron has created a body of work that reveals a fresh creative arc and, as time has told, served as a reference point for a current crop of artists such as Lady Gaga, Goldfrapp, La Roux and Crystal Castles.

Great concert! Ladytron worked it, and the opening band, Polaris at Noon, is an impressive new entry into electronica. Dorothy, excellent idea to meet prior to the concert at Tommy's Joynt. Can't wait for more live music meetups : )

Sounds good. Let's meet around 6:30 since the doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Let me know if that is too late/early.

There are tables at Tommy's so finding a space should be a problem. I will grab one as soon as I get in.

    List of beers:

Dorothy, I'd meet up at Tommys Joynt; might even go there for dinner. I'll be in the City during the day for the Radio Alice Summerthing concert. Others are welcome!

Hi everyone, The date is soon approaching! I hope you have listened to their latest CD, Gravity the Seducer. Let me know if there is interest in meeting beforehand. I like Tommys joynt on Van Ness and Geary. It has an old fashioned feel to it and they sell half beers :) Tommysjoynt.com

FYI- if you want to avoid the nasty ticketbastard fees of $11.65, you can purchase tickets for Regency shows in person at the Warfield box office. The box office is open prior to shows and Sunday afternoon for walk up purchases.
