The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

THE ART OF LOVE IS NEVER A SCIENCE.

MEET DON TILLMAN, a brilliant yet socially challenged professor of genetics, who’s decided it’s time he found a wife. And so, in the orderly, evidence-based manner with which Don approaches all things, he designs the Wife Project to find his perfect partner: a sixteen-page, scientifically valid survey to filter out the drinkers, the smokers, the late arrivers.

Rosie Jarman is all these things. She also is strangely beguiling, fiery, and intelligent. And while Don quickly disqualifies her as a candidate for the Wife Project, as a DNA expert Don is particularly suited to help Rosie on her own quest: identifying her biological father. When an unlikely relationship develops as they collaborate on the Father Project, Don is forced to confront the spontaneous whirlwind that is Rosie—and the realization that, despite your best scientific efforts, you don’t find love, it finds you.

Arrestingly endearing and entirely unconventional, Graeme Simsion’s distinctive debut will resonate with anyone who has ever tenaciously gone after life or love in the face of great challenges.

The Rosie Project  is a rare find: a book that restores our optimism in the power of human connection.

going to have to cancel. Didn't get the book, two weeks was not enough time for me to read since I'm in two clubs and everything else going on I needed more time. Hopefully I can meet with you next month.

Let's eat some Greek food and discuss this book! Dimitri's has amazing food and drinks! Please put a message up here if you are running late so I know how many to get a table for! See you Wednesday!

Hi Kate! I'm going to be a little late because I have puppy class until 730, but am planning on leaving when they start playtime so hopefully I won't miss too much! See you Wednesday!

Can't wait to meet you all. But not this month. April is a full calendar. I'm driving to Arizona that day for a wedding that weekend. Fingers crossed I can meet up with everyone next month!! :)

It is a super fast read... I'm really glad it's on a weekday as my weekends are always filled. I have wanted to come so many times but I was never able to because they were always on weekends. This will be my first one! Yea! Thank you for thinking of those of us whose weekends aren't options! Can't wait to meet everyone!

I;m going to try to get the book and finish it but 16 days may be hard for me to finish. Are we going to meet on Sunday's or weeknights?

    March 31, 2014

    • Kate L

I have heard this book is a fast read, but no worries if you don’t finish the book in time - come anyway! This meetup is scheduled on a wednesday because my only free sunday in April was Easter, which won’t work for most people. Though during the summer it might be harder for people who like to go out of town on the weekends to meet on Sundays, so we may have more during the week meetups then.
