Write a poem a day in April

  • Apr 1, 2013 · 8:00 AM

We all know April is the cruellest month. That must be why April was named "National Poetry Month" and it's certainly why we write a new poem on each of the thirty days. Join us for this poetic marathon!

Here's how it works:

Each morning we'll be prompted by Robert Lee Brewer at his Poetic Asides blog. Write a poem then post it to the daily message board thread. The poem need not have been prompted by Mr. Brewer but they certainly are useful to keep the creativity flowing.

We'll delete each daily message board thread after a week so your poems won't be considered "previously published".

Piece of cake, right?

Just a reminder that I'll be deleting our daily posts on the message board when they're a week old.

I thought I'd signed up for this, but it looks like I missed the boat. Is there a way to get on the email list for the prompts at this late date (already the 2nd!)?

    Kelly,
Just go to the Living Poetry Message Board each day and you'll get your prompt. Post your poem, read what's been posted, enjoy. The daily posts stay up for seven days, so you have plenty of time to catch up on any prompts you missed. Looking forward to reading your work.

I just posted RB's prompt to the message board. Post your poems there, even if you don't follow the prompt.

I'm wondering if Robert Brewer is going to do a daily prompt again this year. As of today there's no mention on his blog. Well, if anyone knows of another daily prompt page let us know. Or as Bart says... just write! Yes sir!

Check out Mr. Brewer's post from Wednesday the 27th:"So this is the last Wednesday Poetry Prompt until May. That’s right, we’ve got a poem-a-day challenge starting up on Monday (April 1). Get plenty of sleep this weekend, because it’s non-stop poeming after that."

Will we be prompted thru this Meetup group -- or do we need to sign up with R Brewer separately online?

I would suggest monitoring his blog yourself for the prompts but, of course, you do not need to follow the prompts, just write.

I am always crashing by half-time... but I'll be there for as long as I last. :)
