Kathryn Stripling Byer Poetry Reading (Raleigh Review)

Raleigh Review and Jacar Press welcome former NC Poet Laureate Kathryn Stripling Byer for a poetry reading event at the Raleigh Review Bookshop (3039 Medlin Drive in Raleigh), Saturday, November 23, 2013, noon-1pm, with book signing to follow. 

Admission is free. 

A native of Georgia, Kathryn Stripling Byer has lived in the western North Carolina mountains since receiving an MFA from UNC-Greensboro. The author of nine books of poetry, her most recent book, Descent, won the Roanoke-Chowan Award and the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA) Book Award for Poetry. 

Byer was the first female poet laureate in North Carolina, serving from 2005-2009. Join us for poetry, nibbles, and the chance to enter a raffle for a handmade, limited edition of Byer’s Southern Fictions, a book of sonnets about race relationships in the South (valued at $100).

    This is going to be great. We're also going to raffle off a copy of Kay's handmade, hand letter-pressed collector's edition of Southern Fictions. Only $1 for raffle tickets(the reading is free), with proceeds going to support the Raleigh Review.
