WHY IS LAUGHTER SO GOOD FOR US?
Regular laughter boosts the immune system and stimulates the production of endorphin and serotonin, the happy hormones. It improves our respiration and gives our internal organs a good massage, increasing blood flow to our vital parts and releasing toxins, so it really is a whole body work out! Laughter is energising AND relaxing and what’s more, because we don’t laugh alone it connects us to others, cementing bonds and strengthening relationships. And, of course it’s a laugh!
FAKE IT TIL YOU MAKE IT BABY!
Dont' feel like laughing? Boo hoo. The good news is that our bodies can't tell the difference between fake and genuine laughter, so even when we don't really feel like laughing we can still reap all the benefits perhaps when we most need them. So, lets not wait for a reason, lets laugh because we can and because it’s good for us! Ha ha!
HUMAN BEING vs HUMAN DOING!?
Perhaps the most important of all benefits of laughter is that it takes us into the present moment. It’s difficult to worry about the future or dwell on the past when you are laughing and this is the essence of its healing power. It is the endless lists of doings that can bring a heaviness into our lives.
So come and laugh and just BE. We are after all, human beings not human doings :-)
