SUNDAY SUPPER by Gabrielle Chavez — "By the [New] Book: Onto the Fourth Chapter"

  • December 6, 2009 · 5:30 PM
  • Kairos-Milwaukie UCC

Continuing from last Sunday, this week Gabrielle Chavez (Best Selling Author of "The Raw Food Gourmet; Going Raw for Total Well Being") charms us with the ongoing testing of her best recipes for the next book, "Alive In Grace!"

This week's Sunday Supper menu features a Harvest Celebration Sampler
We'll gather to enjoy Community, Conversation, Connection, and Gabrielle's Joyful Recipes with much of the food from her own garden as follows:

Watermelon Mint Green Smoothie
Sunchoke Chips
Sauerkraut with Pickled Peppers
Rock Your Own Collard Cradles with cashew-hemp cheese
Choice of Durian Cacao Pie or Better Than Live Fudge

This is a CATERED raw-vegan meal. Please RSVP here or call Gabrielle at[masked] so we can be sure to prepare enough for everyone. If you do RSVP please make every effort to come — a place is set for you, and a wonderful dinner prepared.

5:30 - dinner and sharing around the tables
6:30 to 7:00 (optional) - circle time, including story-discussion, and raw communion.

Attendees are asked to make a gift of $10 - $20 to help with expenses. No one is turned away for lack of funds, so those who can afford to make the larger gift, please help out by doing so.

We are also trying to help facilitate some carpooling for those who are living car-free or just want to combine rides to save money and/or resources. If you need a ride or have an extra seat please respond in the RSVP or call. Thanks!

AS A SPECIAL NOTE:
We are very excited about the meal being prepared for all of you, but just want to bring up one point...

Due to the level of costs and labor involved in each week's Sunday Supper, attendance is important to know ahead of time to help with planning and budgeting. If you have reserved 'YES', and are NOT going to be able to make it, PLEASE CHANGE YOUR RSVP TO 'NO' as soon as you are able. Producing the Sunday Supper meals each week is an expensive endeavor, and even on good weeks we are usually lucky to just break even on food costs. When people sign up then don't show up, this puts us even further in the hole.

Thanks.

It seemed like an unusual combination of dishes but it was very, very, very, very good & incredibly satisfying (as well as quite healthful), especially the diverse collard fillings & the sunchoke chips. Gabrielle hits another out of the rawpark.
