Introduction

Hi, I'm Ferol Humphrey! I bought my first Rider Deck in 1994, and I was actually a little uneasy about it. I find that really amusing now! Tarot is one of the best parts of my life. I practice regularly and teach professionally. Very rewarding.

How did you find us at Living Tarot Meetup?

Extremely bored one night in 2005, (bored enough to Google myself, which is VERY bored) my name came up. One of my Living Tarot Method graduates was talking about Tarot, and she mentioned me as her teacher. I clicked thru to the Dallas Plano Tarot Meetup, which I now run, and which we renamed Living Tarot Meetup in fall 2005. So here I am!

What motivates you about Tarot currently?

Weeellll, I like to teach Living Tarot Method of Intuitive Development, that's what! I am a full-time professional Tarot Instructor, and have been teaching Living Tarot Method in Dallas and around the US since 2002. In 2013 I will be one of the 3 main Master Class presenters at the annual Readers Studio international Tarot conference held in NYC. I like to see the lights come on in the eyes of newcomers as they realize what Tarot can do, and who they can be, with Tarot. Also, I like watching Tarot create bridges for people who would like associations and experiences beyond surface. So I do this all the time, as a community-building event, and as a profession. If you want to learn the Tarot, without memorizing a single card, or simply dynamically increase your intuition, call me at 972-489-9123, or check me at http://www.ferolhumphrey.com/

Do you have certain decks you prefer?

I am particularly attracted to Tarot in der Herstelde Orde, a Dutch JJ deck which I bought from Mary Greer; also James Ricklef's Tarot of the Masters, Lunatic Tarot, Tarot of Secrets, Tarot of Reflections, Navigators Tarot of the Mystic SEA, a highly embellished version of Carol Herzer's Illuminated Tarot, and Robert M. Place's Alchemical Renewed. I am the proud owner of Marie White's Mary-El Tarot, as well as a print of her Death card. I await the rumored Joanna Powell Colbert oracle, from which I have a beautiful print. Universal Waite is my daily reading deck.

When and why are you most likely to pull out your cards?

First thing in the morning before I re-enter beta brainwaves. I make no attempt to see anything in the cards, gain insights, or reason it out. It is just the cards + my subconscious, before I have returned to man the Bridge. Why get in the way?

How did you get into Tarot?

I bought a deck because I have always been interested in the frontiers of consciousness, and esoteric systems. I wanted more SOMETHING. I figured, what the heck, why not try Tarot~ it is an intuitive and archetypal symbol system, and new to me.

  • Hi, Ferol, just wanted to say thanks for the reading, it was really helpful. Now to figure out what it all means ... :D

Wanted to recommend astro.com as a good source for seeing what transits you have right now. One that was memorable for me was Uranus transiting my 1st house ... I completely revamped my look! I believe Robert Hand writes the transit descriptions there, and TBH I'm not crazy about his stuff--to me it's not very positive. But once you ID the transits, you can Google ...

  • Ferol,
I met you at South Side last March. I have been back several times with no one there. Are you doing a meet up in Plano? I live in Richardson and would love to meet other hoopers to play with in my area. Please let me know.
