Bread!

Let's get our bread to second rise together, then have everybody take it home, let it rise during nap, and bake it.  I'll have some organic white and wheat flower on hand, and yeast.  If I get really inspired or there is a lot of interest, I'll also have stuff prepped to make a sprouted grain bread.  Alternatively if anybody wants to learn how to make pie crusts they can freeze for Thanksgiving, we could do that.  Bring your own bread tins, and any special ingredients for bread recipes you want to try.

Kit, I hope your hand heals up quick! I left mini-loaves of olive oil rosemary bread for Kit, Tanya and Melanie to bake. You can find the complete recipe here: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/almost-famous-rosemary-bread-recipe/index.html

Bake your dough for 10 minutes at 400 degrees, then brush with olive oil, sea salt, and rosemary, then bake for another 10 minutes. It's great bread for dipping in seasoned olive oil! Enjoy! And Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and their families!

Thanks Allyson! My finger will recover, and the bread was great!

Ugh. I'm out too - have some kind of crazy nagging headache today. THink I'm going to lay low and try to get some rest.

We won't be able to make it. I woke up feeling a bit achy and not so well. It's nothing terrible, but a friend of mine has been vomiting and if I have what she has, I definitely don't want to pass it to you and your children. So sorry to miss this! I'm going to try to catch one of these soon.

Look forward to seeing everybody tomorrow! This should be fun! I'll also have some leavened dough, white and part whole wheat ready to put to a short second rise and hopefully bake and eat some before everybody's got to go home for nap. Also have two packages of yeast, some organic bread flour, some whole wheat flour, and honey if anybody wants to start from scratch.

I also didn't have time to do any sprouting, but I do have a olive oil rosemary bread recipe...I'll bring some leavened dough and ingredients with me. Also, since Henry usually naps around 9:30, we'll probably be late. But I look forward to seeing everyone!

Hi ladies, I've had a crazy week, and wasn't able to sprout any grain, so I might just bring some flour or come just to hang out or help someone else. Truman and I will probably be there by 10 or so.

I think I can come! I'm going to start soaking barley right now. I'm excited to see you guys again - haven't been able to make it since the kimchi. I'll have Elena, 3.5, and Yael, 4 months.

Just realized that today is actually Wednesday :) I might just help and watch as I didn't think I'd be able to make it and haven't soaked my grains.

If we do this again in a few weeks and I can make it, I can bring the kitchen aid mixer and grinder. I just ordered it, so won't have it by tomorrow. It's a lot cheaper than the other grain grinders I've seen if you already own a kitchen aid mixer.

I have had no time this week to prepare, but I want to come so I may just hang out with my knitting and enjoy your company!

    I meant no-knead, not no-rise!

Reading the sprouted grain bread recipe I posted more carefully, looks like for wheat berries or barley you need to start your soaking process by about noon on Tuesday to be ready for Thursday. If you are doing a different grain, it probably makes sense to research sprouting times.

I have a hand blender with a chopping attachment that I think I'll try for the grinding - if anybody has a grinder, it'd be great if you could bring it so we can compare. I'm also hoping to have no-rise bread ready to bake on Thursday, since I've been wanting to try that too.

Ok, Melanie's enthusiasm pushed me over the top - we will try the sprouted grain bread. However, you can't really do it in a morning, so we'll just do the grinding and start the baking, and make some other bread too. Here's the recipe I want to try: http://fanaticcook.blogspot.com/2012/05/recipe-100-sprouted-wheat-bread.html

I'll soak some wheat berries (it takes more than 5 days) and whatever else I can dig out of my cabinet - I think I have some barley. If you are interested in this process, please bring some soaked grains to add in.

    Hi Kit,
Sounds like cheese making was successful. Truman and I could attend a bread making event next week Thursday, but we already have plans for this week. I'm assuming you'll change the event date if you hold it next week? I'll wait to RSVP:)

This is my first time and I would love to go with my 8 month old if you guys do it next thursday

Sprouted grain bread would require a presoaking process that would need to have started by now - whey is also good in quick breads, Natalie says, so we could do biscuits or something like that. I also have a no-knead recipe I want to try sometime. If I don't get more RSVPs tonight, I'll move the date to next Thursday! Hope to get together one more time before Thanksgiving.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
