Easter weekend - Hiking at Kensington - Nature Trails

  • April 19, 2014 · 11:00 AM

We meet at the Nature Center, and walk the Nature trails (approximately 4 miles in shaded woods - we can go around a few times if people want to walk further).  Dogs are not allowed on the nature trails.

We will start with the easier loop around the small lake and then pass close to the nature center for those who may not want to walk the entire circuit.  Afterwards we go onto the fox and chickadee trails which have some hills and are longer.

Bring sunflower seeds if you want to feed the chickadees and other birds from your hands - always a highlight of this walk!

Directions: It's best off I-96 to use the Kensington Rd exit near the golf course as that is the closest exit to the Nature Center.  If you want to take a surface road instead from the metro area, you can take Grand River.

Meeting Place: Meet at the Nature Center (foyer of the building)

Time: 11am

A beautiful day for hiking. Loved seeing the Sand Hill cranes and wild turkeys. The trails gave a different perspective of the park.

I showed up a little too late to join the group but met some on the trails. My boys enjoyed the walk and feeding the birds. :)

I didn't RealIze we walked so far. I REALLY enjoyed this, and feeding the birds I hadn't done that since elementary school. Thanks for organizing again!

Are these kid friendly events? I think my boys would get a lot from walking in Nature more....

You can bring kids if you want. I'd suggest maybe kids that are a bit older as we typically walk about 5 miles.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
