What is your favorite locally grown food to eat?

Love green smoothies.... spinach, kale & berries! Usually purchased from Food and Thought in Naples. I also have grown the leafy veggies in my earth boxes and will be planting the fruit in our new garden.

Can you tell us about an organic farmer, grower or backyard gardener (including the possibility of yourself) who might invite small groups of interested members to their farm, yard or kitchen to exchange info and possibly host a pot luck?

We just visited Worden Farm in Punta Gorda with our homeschool group and they would encourage us to visit and help! They are set up to educate and deliver members produce boxes to The Collection Farmers Market on Sat in Naples (Airport & Vanderbilt)

Name some edibles in your or your friends yards.

Tomatoes, herbs, fruit trees, beans, peas, avocados, blueberries, mangoes +.....

Share with us a local story related to any aspect of Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability , especially about growing food !!!

It has been hard for me to learn to grow in FL soil. We live on Marco &a group of friends have gardens-we are learning & sharing with each other. I have earth boxes & now within our homeschool co-op we are creating a large garden in my yard.

Share with us anything you would like to, including contact information or your website if you have one and want to share here.Thank You

We are in the process of learning how to be self reliant within our community with our food and love the idea of a group like this to support those efforts!

I love the idea of a "Community Based Life".... we like to call what we do "mini factories" where people form the neighborhood come together to work, learn and produce food together! This meet-up group is a great idea! I'll spread the word.
