What is your favorite locally grown food to eat?

Favorite? So hard to pick, but maybe strawberries or blueberries or kholrabi!

Can you tell us about an organic farmer, grower or backyard gardener (including the possibility of yourself) who might invite small groups of interested members to their farm, yard or kitchen to exchange info and possibly host a pot luck?

Name some edibles in your or your friends yards.

I have lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruit, star fruit, guava, mango, papaya, grapes, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, pomogranates, and (hopefully soon) bananas and kiwis, not to mention various and assorted veggies!! ... and I live in a gated community with a small backyard :-)

Share with us a local story related to any aspect of Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability , especially about growing food !!!

I was starting my first gardening attempt and as cucumbers are one of my favorite foods, I thought I would grow them and save lots of money. I was determined to go organic. And lo and behold, bugs, fungus, mold, you name it, every bad thing happened and I failed over and over again. I threw in the towel and was beginning to believe that I would not be able to grow cucumbers here when by chance, on one of my ECHO visits I heard someone saying, ".. and they taste like cucumbers ...". So I had to know, what where they talking about?? Happened to be luffas. Now I grow them all year round and LOVE them! Who knew you could grow them ... AND eat them?

Share with us anything you would like to, including contact information or your website if you have one and want to share here.Thank You

Everyday is a learning opportunity!
