So you've identified a compelling concept for a location based app ... how do you evolve that into a business? This month, we'll be discussing the evolution of a location based startup with our very own Gauri Manglik, the co-founder and CEO of Fondu. Fondu is an interesting story, one of NYC's hottest new startups that evolved out of a company called SpotOn. SpotOn launched at TechCrunch Disrupt in May 2010 as a personalized recommendation engine for places, but began to gain traction more for the social aspect of sharing than from the recommendation engine itself. Thus, Fondu was born as a social network for sharing bite size reviews of places to eat and drink. We'll talk with Gauri about her experiences in launching a location based app, about how the Fondu team decided to pivot based on their users' feedback, and about the future of places-based sharing.
