We are in hiatus for the winter. We will be back soon.

Locomotive Kayaking does kayaking trips around Melbourne and country Victoria. We also do occasional interstate trips for specific events.

Your organisers are passionate kayakers. If your passion is kayaking, join up and we're sure to have an event that will pique your interest.

Now we've done the hard sell; here is the tough love. We are a group for kayakers. If you don't have a kayak and aren't a member of a club, then please don't ask to join; after all, how can you participate? We also do not cater for beginners; you need to have some experience to join our events. If you are a beginner, we strongly recommend you join a club and build up some experience. A list of canoeing/kayaking clubs is available at http://vic.canoe.org.au/myclub/tools/nattree.asp . Some clubs allow you to borrow their equipment upon you reaching a certain standard, so if you have roof racks, you may be able to join us on some of our trips.

Our trips also require a certain standard of equipment; basic 'sit-on-top' kayaks (such as the cheap ones from places like Anaconda) will simply not handle Bass Strait, or a fast-flowing Goulburn River. They also will struggle with extended day trips and will not keep up with fast moving sea kayaks. We recommend you use a proper touring kayak, sea kayak or even a TK for river trips.

We also don't do kayak fishing trips. If you have a fishing kayak, you are welcome to join; we can help you schedule a few trips for your fellow kayak-fishers.

Cheers

Craig and Cameron
