About a dozen artists from Sacramento Plein Air Painters and Sacramento Sketchers - (both are Meetup groups) will be attending this event.
Some have their own kayaks or canoes, some would love to have a ride in one.
Park your car in the upper level large parking lot, located on the east side of Franklin Boulevard. (This lot is an 1/8 of a mile further south of the Preserve's west side parking lot, located on the other side of Franklin Blvd.)
Walk (or ride your skateboard) with your canoe or kayak down the long slanted ramp that is by parking lot to get to the launching area.
Some artists will be gathering there to sketch or paint the scene.
If you like to sketch or paint while you pause to float, bring your art supplies along.
There's a beautiful, wild scene there at the launch area that reminds me of the Louisiana bayous and the Florida Everglades. (see photo at the top.)
Bring a snack and your beverage.
Let's plan to get a group photo at 5:00 PM near where this guy is with his orange kayak.
Watch KVIE "Rob on the Road" video on the Cosumnes River Preserve - copy this link into your browser:
And here's a video of a kayaker at Cosumnes, rolling his kayak down the long ramp, launching it, paddling out and catching a nice fish:
Note: Pets are not allowed in the park.
Restrooms at the Visitor's Center.
This is a fair weather event. If it's cold, rainy or windy, we'll re-schedule to a future date.
Hope you can help us artists make this a really fun event.
