In order to accommodate the large number of people who have indicated they will attend this event, the launch location has been changed to Lodi Lake Park, 1101 West Turner Road, Lodi, 95242. A fee is collected for vehicle entry into the park whether or not a gate attendant is on duty. A self-service pay station is available directly north of the entry gate. Fees are: $4 - Lodi resident; $5 - non-resident; $2 - Lodi senior (62-over) resident; $3 - non-resident senior. There is no additional fee for kayak or canoe launch. We still plan to meet at the boat ramp at 9:30 a.m. and be on the water by 10 a.m. The boat ramp is at the north end of the park (the road dead-ends there). Restrooms are located nearby, and there is a lawn area for setting up gear. Lodi Lake Park can be reached from I-5 by taking the Turner Road exit and heading east about 5.5 miles, or from Hwy. 99 by taking the Turner Road exit and going west about 1.75 miles. The lake is on the north side of Turner Road. This change will add about 3.5 miles of scenic river views before we reach Hwy. 99 to continue our paddle.
Let’s paddle up the Mokelumne River and see some Fall foliage also maybe work off a few extra calories from our Thanksgiving meal. The Mokelumne River is a very pretty river with clean water in this area with lots of foliage. There should be just a slight current this time of year but nothing to worry about even if you’re new to paddling. There's not a set destination, we can decide how far we want to go the day of the paddle and because this is an up and back paddle people can turn around at any point and not have to worry about getting lost. We’ll meet at 9:30 AM and try to be in the water at 10 AM. Bring plenty of water and a lunch, also dress according to the weather. A PFD is a must!
