This weekend is an opportunity to explore and enjoy our actual present moment experiencing, to question our beliefs and ideas, and perhaps to discover the aliveness, openness and boundless immediacy of Here / Now. We may find that everything is happening by itself, that no one is running the show, that our thoughts, interests, priorities, intentions and actions appear here in the same way that the breath, the wind, the clouds, the trees, and the galaxies appear here – that the boundary between inside and outside cannot actually be found – that all of life is one seamless happening. We may also discover that the turbulent, stormy, overcast weather is as integral to this happening as the calm, clear, sunny weather, and that none of it is really a problem. This weekend is an invitation to wake up to what is obvious, unavoidable, unattainable, ever-changing and impossible to doubt – the wonder of what is, just as it is.

Joan Tollifson has an affinity with Advaita, Zen and radical nonduality, but she belongs to no tradition or lineage. She explores nonduality in the context of everyday life, drawing from her own experiences with addiction, disability, and other human issues. She is the author of Bare-Bones Meditation: Waking Up from the Story of My Life (1996), Awake in the Heartland: The Ecstasy of What Is (2003), Painting the Sidewalk with Water: Talks and Dialogs about Nonduality (2010), Nothing to Grasp (to be published in the summer of 2012), and Death: The End of Self-Improvement (still in progress, but slated for completion and hopefully publication later this year). Joan is currently living in southern Oregon.
