How to split user stories

Booking for this meetup opens on Tuesday 3rd September at 8pm.

So you've got a requirement and it's a big 'un. However, the team says that it just cannot be broken down. What do you do? Is it true that "if you find that you can't break down a story then you're just not trying hard enough"?

The event will be held in the upstairs room at The Plumbers Arms. The sessions are informal and we are happy for you to eat the pub grub / drink during the meetup (the pies are pretty nice).

The pub's site gives directions: http://www.taylor-walker.co.uk/pub/plumbers-arms-belgravia/c0685/

Hey, Could I suggest a topic for discussion in the future? My question is how to scale up Scrum development with component teams>

Thanks again! It was interesting, and I liked that we had a user story game to try,,, although I'm not sure if I have the confidence to run that one with my teams as I found it a bit hard to follow myself :(

Maybe practice on a team that is confident in splitting first?

Brief discussion about why to split stories followed by a quick run through the planning part of Elephant Carpaccio - definitely keen to run it in full

Argh! Trying to print out some stuff to bring along but our printers are down. I'll bring them along on a memory stick, but if anyone wants to print a couple of each of the following out, that would be great:
