London Android LiveCode #4

Welcome back Android members ! Our next LiveCode is soon and will take place @Badoo, so save the date.

I’m still looking for an other speaker so let me know if you are interested in doing a presentation.

Here is what’s awaiting you :

Dmitry Matyukhin - Using native C/C++ code in Android applications: design for performance, cross-platform and security.

"Although, development with C/C++ for Android might sound a bit overcomplicated having a high-level language such as Java, there are still reasons for going low-level. My experience with Android NDK came from the projects when Java was either not enough or was not an option. Even if you have never written in C or C++, you may want to know what you can achieve with that on Android. In the presentation, I will cover the following topics:

• General overview of Android NDK. How to write a simple native library and connect it with Java

• Cross-platform architecture

• Enhancing security by showing an example of hacking a Java app and how it could be improved with Android NDK

• Evolution of NDK frameworks and covering old devices"

Cheers,

Excellent Live Code last night. Thanks Dmitry for an excellent presentation, the obfuscation and security element of the talk was particularly interesting; and thank you to Kelly for organising the event.

The session was really good and informative. I have not worked with the Android NDK before but after this meetup I consider using it espceccially for security purposes.

It was an eye opener! I couldn't believe what Dmitry Matyukhin was doing. He's simply a casual machine magician.
