Catch up and drinks / dinner

  • April 8, 2013 · 6:30 PM

Time for a catch up to update you on recent events and also discuss what is already planned and hopefully get some more input and ideas from everyone.

I have a feeling this will be a good year for Animals Asia.  It's started brilliantly with the Vietnam sanctuary being saved from eviction and the New Year Rescue and for us in London with our first event of the year and our most successful event to date, our screening of Cages of Shame (pics are on the event page)

We will be joined this evening by veterinary nurse Caroline Nelson who has worked at both sanctuaries and will be very happy to chat to us about life and work at the sanctuaries.  Caroline has also been on rescues so can really give us a great insight into the work of Animals Asia.

Hope to see many of you there - it doesn't matter if you can't make it for 6.30, just come along when you can.

I feel I'm not getting anything out of these meetings.
I thought all those involved directly with the charity would take charge and report it all back to us (for example: stand up at the head of the table and we would then listen).
I've gone along a few times now and just sat there and made small talk to a few others which isn't what I came to do - so I have decided not to attend these meetings now. I will continue to stay in touch on here and turn up to actual events to support this charity. I just wanted to tell you this to let you know. I still think you are all great. Bye for now.

Hi Katriona and thanks for your comments. Yes different people get different things out of the group. The meetings are mainly to organise events and discuss ways of raising more funds. I will in future give a brief general update about Animals Asia as well as I've realised that not everyone keeps up to date via the website and social media but generally the meetings are about working together rather than one or two doing it all and are also an opportunity to get to know other members and like minded people. Those who can't get involved with the organisation of events but would still like to help in some other way can of course do so by coming to events so I hope everyone who joins this group will get something out of it. Looking forward to seeing you soon at one if the events. All best, Maren
