2011 HACKNEY EMPIRE NEW ACT OF THE YEAR WINNER
David Mills won the New Act of the Year 20011 (formerly Hackney Empire New Act of the Year). His signature style merges Dave Allen and Kenneth Williams. He's played all over London and the South east.
He's 'Second Banana' or sidekick on Scott Capurro's Position, the live, comedy chat show that has had multiple sell-out runs in London and a 5-star run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2011.
Mills' is also an established cabaret comic and performs with piano accompaniment. He's had several solo shows including:
The New Black, 2009 -- Leicester Square Theatre, Bistrotheque, Oval House
House Party -- Camden Fringe, Royal Vauxhall Tavern
Brave New House Party -- Royal Vauxhall Tavern
Swing Out Mister! -- Bistrotheque
The Bigger Picture -- Stagewerx Theatre (San Francisco) , Bistrotheque
'His talent for whip cracking one-liners is audaciously thrilling.' - Time Out
'A gifted, bravura performer. His ruthless, cynical bitchiness is hysterically funny.' -- SF Bay Guardian.
'His succession of one-liners struck home like polished darts, and his languid, camp persona rang, like, totally true. Mills’ was a stealthily consummate performance, well deserving of victory.' -- The Stage
'His ability to mix up his comedy - from wry observation, to slam-bam punchline, to physical nuance - made this feel like the most rounded performance of the night, and the one that could most easily hold an audience for a full solo show. Mills’ stand-up is as sharp as his quiff - a tongue-lashing, gag-whacking joy to watch.' - The Stage
'A waspishly brilliant comic who, perched on a stool, looked and sounded like one of the Algonquin wits drinking cocktails in Manhattan.' -- Arthur Smith

Dave started performing stand-up in 2011. He is the winner of the Max Turner Comedy Award. Previous winners include Pat Cahill and Tim Shishodia. A regular on the London comedy circuit, his misanthropic persona and deadpan delivery are fast proving popular with audiences and promoters alike. He is currently gigging with promoters like Crack Comedy, Jongleurs, The Bearcat, Comedy Cafe and Funhouse Comedy.
"One of the most original, inventive and creative acts on the circuit. Oh, and most importantly, he’s spectacularly funny too." - James Gill, Always Be Comedy
"A marked debut, enjoyed the performance and deadpan style." - James Punnett, The Bearcat
"The audience all loved him, very clever and funny material." - Hazel Humphries, The Funny Farm

Ivor Dembina is a London based Jewish comedian who uses the traditional flavour of Jewish humour to tackle tricky subjects.
His first solo show, Stand Up Jewish Comedy (1994) was a comic critique of his own life as a Jew brought up in north London, UK. His next show was SadoJudaism (2001), a close up and peculiarly Jewish view of the worlds of fetishism and sadomasochism. His most recent show (2004) was a comic account of his visit to Israel and the Palestine entitled 'This is Not a Subject for Comedy'.
Whether he's doing a club set or in solo mode you can expect a mixture of thoughtful routines and top gags held together by a natural ease with the audience, a quality he's acquired through his extensive experience as a compere.
Singer / musician with a heritage in THEATRE SPORTS hit the stand-up circuit for the first time in April 2011, Andy has already enjoyed success as finalist in the Comedy Heat competition, debuted in Bannermans at the Edinburgh festival 2011 where his performances brought offers of paid work as far afield as Aberdeen, and were received with much acclaim by many critics
