The Pleasance Comedy Reserve 2014

Big Value Showcase 2013

“Equipped with a sensitive comedic compass,

this young stand-up is on her way to becoming a top player in the comedy hemisphere”

- Swedish Stand-Up Gala

Born in Sweden to immigrant Chinese parents, Evelyn Mok challenges pre-disposed norms by blending social commentary with sharp gags about everyday observations. With an inimitable delivery and a beautifully original perspective on many of life’s big issues, Evelyn approaches each topic with a refreshingly unapologetic attitude that had Steve Bennett of Chortle deem her “brutal but funny”.

In her native Sweden, Mok is acknowledged as one of the country’s bright new stars and was named New Act of the Year in 2010. In the same year she opened for comedian Paul Foot on his club tour of the country and was commissioned by the Swedish National Broadcasting Network to create Evelyn’s Videoblog, a 10 part web sketch-series based on her shy and introverted comedy character of the same name. The success of the web-series led her to be cast in the swedish version of television show fonejacker in 2011 and in 2012 she received the One to Watch Award at the Swedish Stand Up Gala.

Shortly thereafter she relocated to the UK, where she in 2013 was a finalist in the Chortle Student Comedy Awards, performed at the Latitude festival and was part of Just the Tonic’s Big Value Showcase at the Edinburgh Fringe.

2014 sees Evelyn returning to the Latitude Festival, as well as being one of Time Out Comedy’s new talent choices for their Time Out Introduces showcase at the Southbank festival. She will also be back at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year as part of the Pleasance’s Comedy Reserve Showcase.

'Cassidy is a great comedian and if he isn’t the Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner for 2013, he’ll have you down the bookies for next year’' Broadway Baby for 'Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner' 2013

'Great jokes, with an easy, confident manner. Cassidy seems to have a real commitment to making intelligent comedy shows about fun ideas'

Fringe Guru Aug 2012

Malcolm Hardee Award nominee 2012

As well as being an award-nominated stand-up in the UK (Malcolm Hardee Award 2012) and TV warm-up (currently The Clare Balding show on BT Sport), Nathan is an award-winning playwright, having won the Sir Michael Caine Award for new writing for his play ‘The Cure for the Common Cold’. Nathan's debut Edinburgh Fringe show in 2010 was at Just the Tonic at the Caves, after sell-out shows at the Leicester Comedy Festival, and on the Brighton and London Fringe in 2010. His follow up show 'Fantastica' returned to Just the Tonic in 2011. His 2012 shows 'Free Pound' and feature documentary film 'I am Orig' were nominated for a Malcolm Hardee Award. His 2013 show 'Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner' hits all the major festivals this year and he is resident host of The Rat Pack stand-up comedy show in London and Edinburgh (

Nathan has previous experience on the Fringe dating back 14 years – in 1996 he was a baby-faced winner of Mervin Stutter’s Spirit of the Fringe Award for the play ‘Lady Bracknell was a Lesbian’. He was also in The Donkey Show, which was the big hit of the 2000 Edinburgh Fringe.

Candy Gigi Markham

Candy Gigi is the original “one to watch.” Her odd, surreal act with either have you screaming in the aisles or glued to your seat, open-mouthed, according to recent reviews. Her completely off-the-wall performance is not to be sniffed at however. A graduate of Mountview Acting School, she has a thoroughbred performing pedigree that includes her distant cousin the film actor Ron Moody. Now two years into the comedy scene, she is taking audiences by storm, literally. Be prepared, says the literature. Be very prepared

Ivor Dembina is a London based Jewish comedian who uses the traditional flavour of Jewish humour to tackle tricky subjects. His first solo show, Stand Up Jewish Comedy (1994) was a comic critique of his own life as a Jew brought up in north London, UK. His next show was SadoJudaism (2001), a close up and peculiarly Jewish view of the worlds of fetishism and sadomasochism. His most recent show (2004) was a comic account of his visit to Israel and the Palestine entitled 'This is Not a Subject for Comedy'. Whether he's doing a club set or in solo mode you can expect a mixture of thoughtful routines and top gags held together by a natural ease with the audience, a quality he's acquired through his extensive experience as a compere.
