ACTIVISM EVENTS (series, Every Sunday evening) "God on Trial"

UPDATE:  13/2/23  Kieron has very kindly offered to go and check this out for us this Sunday. Also, I emailed them to ask if it would really be a no holds barred discussion, and he has replied affirmatively. I'll post his full email on the discussion post.If anyone would like to go along with Kieron this week as an exploratory visit, then please RSVP here, but otherwise we will wait to hear back and then decide as a group how to proceed with this.

Original email:

Hi there, I'm Jeremy and I'm involved in a meetup group called Connected. It's run by Christians and we want to encourage intelligent discussion and debate among people of various beliefs. We're about to start a new series called "God on Trial" and are hoping for quite a few people of different viewpoints to come and join the discussion. It would be great if some of you would like to come along. Feel free to advertise it to your members if you think that would be appropriate.

Each week we are discussing a different topic:
Feb 17th: "No evidence. Dear God - mind speaking up?"
Feb 24th: "It's the C21st. Dear God - are you relevant any more?"
March 3rd: "Life hurts. Dear God - do you care?"
March 10th: "Rules, rules, rules. Dear God - are you a killjoy?"
March 17th: "Hell, fire and brimstone. Dear God - are you a sadist?"
March 24th: "We're all trying our best. Dear God - why so exclusive?"

More info can be found on our meetup page. Please RSVP here if you'd like to come along and we'll let the Connected group know.

PRICE: Free ( Let's hope they don't want our souls ;-)) Just kidding, it's actually REALLY refreshing isn't it, that religious people want to hear other opinions and maybe even the 'E' word? ...E..Ev..evidence?? Seriously though, I must say I'm impressed by this group for at least trying ...and it'll be an interesting experience, no doubt!

I have been asked to translate something for tomorrow half an hour ago and will not, as a result, be able to attend this event. I hope those of you who are going have an interesting and enjoyable time.

While 'RIDICULE' is obviously your best 'weapon' David ,,, it isn't mine,, so thanks but no thanks,, as I will most definitely not be taking your advice.

I don't know if words and letters are missing above because of my keyboard, my inattention or something to do with the internet. I my comment above makes sense.

Some of us are meeting at 5.00pm at The Eagle pub, 15 Clifton Road, Maida Vale, W9 1SY. So all that are attending are welcome here first.

Sorry, I would like to explore this event, but not in half-term. To anyone going, I would remind them that the best weapon in your armoury against faithists is NOT reason (see quotation on home page) but RIDICULE. Good hunting!

CLHG and Connected have this event starting at 6.00pm, not 4.30pm as shown above, so can it be confirmed here that 6.00pm is indeed the start time,,? thanx.

Presumably, if people decided to meet up there and had some drinks and then left without paying the bill, that would be a victmless crime!

I will try to get to this but I've arranged a nice romantic weekend so it could be difficult.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
