The easiest way to organise this is for people to book their own time slot over the phone in advance, anytime between 5pm and 7.30pm. The number to ring is 03001232323. If this is your first time there is a form to fill in which they'll send to you if you ask in advance. Outside of our own time slots we'll congregate and chat in the pub just around the corner, answering any queries people have and giving moral support.

This is one way of showing our desire to help others. Those of you who have not yet given blood, or those who are lapsed are welcome to join us. We will have on hand experienced donors who will allay any fears you may have. It wil be 16 weeks since our last session. If you don't want to give blood but want to give us moral support then meet us as at the pub. There are free soft drinks and snacks at the donor centre. Here's a link to the blood donor website http://www.blood.co.uk/can-i-give-blood/ And here is a link to the Terrence Higgins trust where additional questions can be answered http://www.tht.org.uk/our-charity/Campaign/Our-health-policies/Blood-donations

The blood donor web site gives most of the reasons preventing one from giving, which also include if you've had jabs in the last 8 weeks. Travel abroad (presumably to tropical places) in the last 12 months affects eligibility. If you're on medication you'll also need to ring them to check. There are extra hurdles for gay donors so check the link above; also see the discussion from 10th October.

Remember not to have any alcohol before or after. See you at the Blood centre and the pub. Steve Clapman[masked] (text please if you need me).

I suffer from high blood pressure (taking 2 different tablets every day) so don't want to be involved in this at present.

"Atheists want your blood!" - rather playing into the hands of those theists who like to portray us as Satanists, isn't it?

Please do check the restrictions etc (links given in text above), as wouldn't want anyone to waste their time going (e.g. I was turned away as you have to be over 8st...also there are restrictions if you've been taking steroids or some other medications, have had a tattoo or piercing in the last year...) however it is all very easy and painless, and of course for a very good cause so please support it if you can. You will literally be a live saving hero!

Of course you can also give blood at your local centre, details can be found here: http://www.blood.co.uk/

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
