LAAG END-OF-YEAR SOCIAL CELEBRATION - BLASPHEMY SPECIAL! Xmyarse Santa!

ABOUT THE EVENT

UPDATE: ONLY A FEW PLACES LEFT (we limited nos to make it personal and to have space ...for who knows what ;-)). The Devereux has said we can make a few additions to catering ...but do get a move on if you want to come ;-)

(WE HAD TO GIVE NUMBERS TO PUB BY FRIDAY 6th, SO WE HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR EVERYONE RSVP'd YES at 17:00 on 6th (as per emails sent out to you)- if you haven't actually paid you can do so with cash on Monday or Friday)

A SOCIAL CELEBRATION celebrating Reason, this (silly) season! LIVE PIANO BAR SINGER TAKING YOUR REQUESTS - probably zero chance of hymns but just about anything else goes! (If you fancy something obscure, let us know in advance & we'll see if we can arrange it for you!), Hot & Cold BUFFET (Turkey Bacon & Cranberry, Salmon & Lemon Mayo sandwiches, chips, veggie quiche, chicken goujons, profiteroles & more... includes several veggie options), GAMES PRIZES, and of course a LAAG irreverent touch...

Namby-Pamby Santas and jingley bloody bells? Celebrating mindless subservience to an imaginary friend/tyrant? FUGGEDABOUTID!

Instead, what could be more appropriate for us to celebrate this (w)hol(l)y stupid time of the year than a BLASPHEMY and 'SUPERSTITIONS' themed X-myarse instead? When? (Need you ask...?)

...of course! Taking place at our unspiritual home, upstairs in a private room at the Devereux. Walk this way for a devilishly good time...

__________________________________________

This is a LAAG (quarterly) COMMUNITY AND SOCIAL CELEBRATION EVENT.  An easy social setting to mingle, meet old friends and make new ones. New members - a good one for you too - don't worry, you'll be warmly welcomed and included as the group is very friendly! We celebrate each others' company in these light-hearted events, being lucky enough to have found reason instead of that vice in virtue's clothing: faith. Surely that's worth a celebration!

__________________________________________

THEME: BLASPHEMY AND SUPERSTITION

OPTIONAL FANCY DRESS - Come as a black cat, an angel, a ghost,  a god (there are almost 3000 to choose from!), or whatever takes your fancy ( Adrian says he might come as Dexter ;-)). (Or being atheist cats, you can decide not to be 'herded' and just come as yourself - Bah Humbug!)

Some god suggestions above ... Dress Up, down or indeed sideways ...there will be games, prizes, perhaps dancing, and no doubt 'some' drinking ...let's hope there are no 'incidents'. Prize for best costume, and maybe some ad hoc ones too ...

ENTERTAINMENT

By popular request - live music from Piano Bar singer, Mark 'Marky' Dawson. Some of you will remember him from the Boat Party. Mark has a HUUUUUUGE........... er, repertoire... and will take all reasonable requests. (Please confine them to musical requests!  ...although Mark tells us he is single at the moment so you never know....)

We will meet upstairs (through door marked 'Restaurant') from 19:00 for the event. Pub is open all day (downstairs) so you can arrive earlier if it suits you.

Buffet at 8:30pm (hot and cold choices, with a selection of veggie options too), and live music through the evening 'till pub closing time...so have those karaoke party pieces ready!

Experience says an 'After-Party Party' is also inevitable (for those with livers and nerves of steel!)

All welcome, bring partners, friends, granddads if you want to (or dare!)

We have to pay the venue in advance so please use the PayPal link, OR YOU CAN PAY IN CASH AT ONE OF THE UPCOMING EVENTS

friends abusing alcohol? I treat alcohol with respect, when I "use it" I only have 2 pints that last me the whole night. I know, boring information, but true. Hope you enjoyed last night's LARG party :)

What a fun evening! Despite some of you cheeky so and so's playing a trick on me with the 20 questions thing. Grrr ;-) Well done to Roma, Mihai, Joanne, Rich, David Miller , Elena - our prize winners. Good to see some of the people who can't normally get to meetups that easily too, like Del, Erin, John P, Priscilla, Rupert.

Just joined. Thinking about popping along on Friday (gotta clear it with 'er indoors -I'm neglecting her and my newborn on Weds for a gig already!). Any other 'first timers' attending, or am I just to wander in sheepishly...

    • haggis_lad

Fellow newbie too, so say hi

      December 13, 2013

    • Adrian

Georgi - it was a response to the original post. It would be much better if they had like a tree with these convos so you could respond to a ine further back rather than nebulously spunking seemingly aimless remarks when in fact it was a proper response to a prior remark. Just saying ;-)

      December 13, 2013

I will definitely go, but I don't intend to drink.

      1 · December 12, 2013

  • Roger

Probably won't be able to attend unless my rehearsal is cancelled.

    October 24, 2013

    • Roger

And my rehearsal is definitely not cancelled as on Saturday there will be musical rejoicing in the streets in the Herne Hill area to celebrate the drying out after the recent flood. Have a good one & come along (from 11.00) if you're not too hung over.

      2 · December 12, 2013

I may possibly be able to make it but not until 9-ish, ok if I gate crash at that late hour?

    December 10, 2013

    • Georgi L.

It is your group so how could you be 'gate-crashing'? ;-) More than welcome, Steve.

      December 11, 2013

  • John P

I am actually taking the whole of this Friday off work, so that I can have a nice long lie in that morning and be well rested when I turn up to the party. I am usually completely shattered at the end of a week's work and fit only for sleep. I can't promise to be the "life and soul" of the party, as that isn't really me anyway, but at least I can be sure to stay awake to enjoy all of the lovely company.

    4 · December 10, 2013

    • John P

The LAAG party is actually on the same evening as my work's Xmas get together, but it was a no-brainer deciding which event I wanted to attend :)

      5 · December 10, 2013

    • Georgi L.

Well I should hope so! ;-)

    • Joanne

Man Georgi that sums up religion nicely doesn't - don't think, thinking baaaaad, following good. Utah just follow nice farmer Jesus TO THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE!

      November 18, 2013

    • Devorah R.

      I friggin love this song!

      November 26, 2013

  • Georgi L.

Btw Mark does indeed have a huge repertoire but if you want something obscure then let us know in advance and he'll probably work it out for the night.

    November 17, 2013

  • Jason

Mortified that I'll almost certainly not be able to make this one so have changed my RSVP. Have a great time everyone.

    November 16, 2013

  • Joanne

I'll pay (honest) as soon as I'm not on my temperamental phone. By the way has someone (Cloe) been posting porn? All my meetup messages have been going to the spam folder.

    October 31, 2013

    • Georgi L.

But you did post porn, right?

      1 · November 2, 2013

    • Cloe

Just to add Joanne informed me that her phone issues were her own fault and not my porn.. ;)

      1 · November 13, 2013

  • Priscilla R.

Hi guys maybe I misread but what does the 15 pounds include?

    1 · November 8, 2013

    • Jason

Hi Priscilla, I'm not organising this but obvious costs to be covered are room hire, the buffet and live entertainment.

      November 8, 2013

    • Georgi L.

Yes, it's a dinner buffet - not just crisps and light snacks. Plus a live, professional piano bar singer all night so we can do requests, singalongs, games etc. (Gawd help us!). Where else can you get all that for £15?!

      1 · November 9, 2013

  • Georgi L.

Wonder if Mark knows "arvine, arvine arvine arvine"? (For those that weren't at the "thou shalt not cavort on a Sunday Social, all I am saying is you may be in for a treat if Anita comes along with her Latvian drinking songs book!)

    November 3, 2013

    • Cloe

Well he does have a huuuuuge ...repertoire ..so you've said.

      1 · November 3, 2013

    • Roger

I'm sure if Anita can scan the page & email it, Mark will be able to accompany.

      November 3, 2013

  • Cloe

I see it's an option to bring granddads.. Tempting..

    1 · October 30, 2013

    • Georgi L.

That explains a lot doesn't it! Cloe, hope you bring him ...after all, our other silver devil bundle of fun, Rodney, is in Spain at the mo.

      October 31, 2013

Haha, I'm sure being an Irish catholic Grandad will approve........

i would love to be there but it's too far. The sailing is great here in Spain at present and each week I have a captive crew who have to listen to my bible talks. there is endless ammunition in there for us to use.
    Keep up the good work.

    3 · October 30, 2013

      October 30, 2013
