LAAG End of month SOCIAL (new LAAGers very welcome)

NOTE: change of DATE to Sat. 30th August****

We thought we'd do something different & go to a gig, so we're herding Atheist Cats to the Alley Cat Bar & Club! Entry is free & the music goes from around 6:30 until 9. (After that we may choose to stay at the Alleycat or move to another local bar )

NEW MEMBERS: Don't worry about not being able to recognise us, as most of the audience will be LAAGers. Adrian will have a black t-shirt with an atheist logo, and you can also ask for us at the bar. Do come along, you'll be warmly included and welcome.

ENTERTAINMENT:

Music is provided by Mark Dawson, who is a young talented singer-songwriter and human jukebox! He'll be doing a mixed set of originals and lots of covers - yes requests are welcome: his repertoire goes from Ray Charles to Razorlight, so something for everyone!

Some of you may remember that Mark has performed at a couple of LAAG events in the past.

The venue is very close to Tottenham Court Road station and also Leicester Square

A voluntary collection will be made, suggested £3

Note: The venue isn't open before 6-ish so if you arrive early then you may not be able to gain entry until after 6pm. There are plenty of other bars/pubs around if you are early.

8.5 seconds isn't a long time to come of being.

Well, that's about how long it takes me to come...

I was wondering what the stages of drunkenness are in modern terms (not the old maudlin and that stuff). I think it goes
    Tipsy
    Trashed
    Trousered
    Twatted
    Tits-up

    Any others?

Don't understand your comment about how did that place take 35 of us - it holds well over that. Shame we missed you Sanjay! (As it said in the details above, we moved on elsewhere sometime after 9).

great venue, good music and such a friendly group, I had a good evening.

I only deleted one star because the volume of the music (which was very well performed!) made it difficult to communicate other than by shouting in someone's ear - hard to have a group conversation, which I think is one of the most useful and pleasant activities on LAAG socials.

It was easier to talk at the back for those who wanted to, plus the arts cafe afterwards from 9pm was a quiet venue

Hi all! I´m new in the group. I will be in central London tomorrow so I may go to the meetup but I can´t be sure. Is that ok? If space is limited and someone wants my RSVP let me know.

That's very sweet Rafa, but don't worry, space is not limited as we have the whole bar. It will be lovely to see you, if you can make it :-)

Can't make this particular musical soirée since I am returning from the not too distant land of my ancestors and will need to chill out in peace and tranquility. Have a great time everyone and stay rational.

Having heard Mark do oodles of covers (very well!) I'm looking forward to hearing some of his own songs.

Ok, after being really crap at attending the meetings of the best meetup group, I'm seriously committed to this one. If I am not there, I owe Georgi a drink!
