REGULAR last-sun-of-the-month SOCIAL + GUEST SPEAKER, Katherine Stewart

For this month's social meetup, we're delighted to be joined by Katherine Stewart, Journalist / Author "The Good News Club". Dan Barker mentioned Katherine and her work at his event in London with us, and Katherine seems to be making a lot of waves due to her taking on of the radical right in America.

Katherine has been trying to combat the radical right in America. "The radical right is on a mission. But are they REALLY trying to use the public schools to turn your children into religious warriors?" (American TV clip with Thom Hartman)

Katherine wanted to meet U.K. atheists on her visit to London and she'll primarily be spending time with us informally,  having a drink and a chat. She's also give us a short talk (about 20 minutes or so) offering an overview of the religiously driven initiatives in American state schools, and is happy to take any questions afterwards.

Should be a nice mix of social and learning time!

More about Katherine Stewart:

I got to talk with Katherine about some of the issues going on in the States right now and she told me about some of the disturbing things the Christian Right are doing. Fascinating and disturbing. Katherine's main talk to the group was great in an informal setting and I bought her book which she signed for me :)

What a great afternoon. Katherine was an excellent guest. She did a nice talk about her book and then some Q&A after which we all socialised for a couple of hours. Thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

What time-ish will Katherine be turning up? And will Adrian really be leaving the pub at 5.00 p.m.? :)

Katherine will be there from the start, 1pm. There is not really any set end time but most people are there till 5pm, and a lot stay later till about 7 or 8. (As for Adrian, yes you've got it right...normally he's amongst the few that the pub has to kick out at closing time ;-))
