EXTERNAL EVENT - Animal Ethics Seminar Goldsmiths Uni 29th Nov, Room RHB 139

Hi I am not sure how many of you will be able to make this, but I have spoken to a couple of people who were interested in the link between non human slavery and human slavery and no doubt the explotative stance from religious points of view. "Animals are here to serve us", hmm just like women and non white people!

Hope to see some of you there- the speakers are really interesting, there will be a talk on speciesism and sentience, its link to sexism and racism and followed by a practical talk on activism against the oppression of non human animals and how it links to human rights activism.

See you soon

Read the event on Fb. They say:

"We welcome not only people who are already interested in animal rights, but anyone who is interested in ethics, freedom, ecology, feminism, LGBT rights, anti-fascism, anti-civilization and anti-capitalism."

Good grief, spreading the net a bit aren't we! Are axe murders welcome too? I'm really not sure about the last two... esp anti-civilisation! Wtf! if not civilisation, what!? Anyway, Goldsmiths is almost in France so I shan't be going. I would like to see much tougher penalties for abusing and murdering animals, however I'm not necessarily against vivisection and I am a carnivore. I think animals have been at the sharp end thanks to religion. Then again so have women and many ethnic groups. Perhaps animal rights/feminists/victims of racism should have destroying religion at the top of their agenda since that would definitely improve the lot of all. That's my critical path analysis. You're welcome!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
