COMPULSORY Q (no membership if not answered): Pls describe yr position on religion/faith e.g. atheist, naturalist, 'agnostic', religious doubter, religious, OR any description that best describes you. (Not to label you, just to know group make-up)

I am an atheist antitheist

COMPULSORY Q: Why do you want to join? (if faith/religion bothers you, what aspects in particular? (Helps us tailor activities to your concerns (within our remit of "peacefully promote reason/atheism")). Pls write as much or as little as you like.

I have come to learn that the basis of religious texts are fabricated and have no evidence to back them up. Yet today people are being abused all over the world because of these texts. there is no evidence for any existence of god, yet religion gets privileged positions in most countries. I think we need a separation of state and religion in all forms. I think that there are no good religions only good people. I think people who choose to cherry pick from religious texts to make them selves feel more comfortable about their "nice" religion are enabling religious fundamentalists to thrive and need their faith challenged.

Where did you hear about us?

Youtube , specifically the video of the Skype chat about How to create an atheist.

(You're welcome as a social or even a silent member, & there's absolutely no pressure - but would you want to be involved (at some stage) in actively challenging faith in any way? Petitions, leafleting etc, or something else?

If so, what kind of issues are most emotive for you? What kind of activism do you prefer - humourous/cheeky or more direct? Any other ideas you'd like to share at the moment?

I am still new to challenging faith so would like to be involved in group activities until I am more confident.

I'm am an app developer, formerly religious now atheist who believes that religion is a disease. I'm becoming incredibly frustrated with the liberal left not challenging religion and the harm it does, this frustrates me as I am left leaning myself.
