COMPULSORY Q (no membership if not answered): Pls describe yr position on religion/faith e.g. atheist, naturalist, 'agnostic', religious doubter, religious, OR any description that best describes you. (Not to label you, just to know group make-up)

I do not believe that God exists. He is just too evil.

COMPULSORY Q: Why do you want to join? (if faith/religion bothers you, what aspects in particular? (Helps us tailor activities to your concerns (within our remit of "peacefully promote reason/atheism")). Pls write as much or as little as you like.

Their arrogant assumption that they are correct. Evidence for their convictions is so poor that one can even justify the assumption that Satan killed God and we've been praising Him ever since. It would explain a lot - e.g. the deaths of native S. Americans, the constant wars / crusades, the three ambiguous books, etc. But seriously - they're blind to the absurdity of their beliefs.

Where did you hear about us?

I didn't. I suggested we start it!

(You're welcome as a social or even a silent member, & there's absolutely no pressure - but would you want to be involved (at some stage) in actively challenging faith in any way? Petitions, leafleting etc, or something else?

Yes - but I feel that direct confrontation is not the answer. They've had direct confrontation for millenia. Education is the answer.

If so, what kind of issues are most emotive for you? What kind of activism do you prefer - humourous/cheeky or more direct? Any other ideas you'd like to share at the moment?

I'm not a quick enough thinker, nor am I practised, to enter into serious debate. I like to write sarcastic/flippant material that extends religious 'logic' in the hope that it may cause a religious person to stop and think about what it is they're actually doing.

Introduction

I just want to live, laugh and to tell a story or two. But as my late mum said to me, 'Mark' she said (!), 'you might be bright but you have no common sense.' And as a man who bought into 8-track cassettes and beta-max videos - I have to agree.
