Hi. I'm more or less a life-long atheist, and interested in the politics of religion and culture.
It is important for the non-religious to provide counter-voices to the powerful institutional structures that support religion. Religion's interference in public life, its demands for privileged treatment and its exploitation of individual believers need to be opposed.
Maybe, depending on the likely real effectiveness of the action
Activism that works, and that does not demonise individual believers nor damage cultural tolerance in general.
Roger hasn't realised you have been coming to meetups quite regularly already - it's nice to welcome you 'officially' to LAAG. See you again soon :-)
Hello Ian and welcome to LAAG! Please come and visit up either at our mid-month more structured talks/discussions or or more informal end-of-month gatherings.
These were my thoughts exactly, Ian - I couldn't have done anything better with your tenner!
