Continuing discussion with Asad, founder member of CEMB, on the issues on which Britain should respond to political Islam and any other matters you bring up. There will be a file on where we got to last time, on the files section in due course. It will help us to keep to the point at this stage of what is an ongoing discussion.
As it is the midwinter festival, or whatever you like to call the solstice celebrations, (I certainly think the shortest day and looking forward to spring is worth celebrating) it is suggest that if we all bring something to eat or drink to share, we could spend some of the time in social chit chat and lighthearted banter
Even if it is raining cats and dogs, freezing and blowing a gale.
“ A great meeting. we completed a really useful outline, by a founder member of the Council of Ex-Muslims (CEMB), of the responses to political and fundamentalist Islam, that public and government can and must make if we are to progress towards a peaceful, secular world, that ensures freedom OF and FROM religion.
We welcomed several new members as well as regulars. It was great to see the wide range of interesting and intelligent exchange of ideas that bodes well for the development of atheist thinking in the future. We all have our priorities, all of which are important, and recognising that, is hugely welcome in a life view that has been so poorly facilitated and represented in the past.
Following this we gathered round the table to eat, drink and talk, and Mark entertained, fresh from giving a lecture at the LSE, with a couple of very amusing examples of visual illusions - that show how the brain fills in the gaps to make sense of nonsense.
Sorry if you missed it. ”
