What we’re about
The Association of Black Humanists (ABH), formally London Black Atheists (LBA), welcomes you all. Our mission is to support and encourage all people, particularly those from the African Diaspora, who are Freethinkers, Non-believers, Atheists and of course, Humanists. If you are questioning religion and want to meet like-minded people, then ABH is the group for you.
It is well documented that for social and historical reasons religion has become an intrinsic part of African and African-Caribbean people’s lives, thus making it extremely difficult to leave religion or to come out as a non-believer. ABH provides a confidential, friendly, welcoming and supportive environment for people who want to liberate their minds from the restrictive thinking of religion, but are wary of receiving a hostile reaction from their family and friends, leaving them isolated with no one to turn to and nowhere to go. Our belief in freedom and equality for all is deeply rooted in ethical humanist values, scepticism and reason.
ABH have meetups for serious discussions on a wide range of topics connected to beliefs, science, social issues, religion, race, sexuality and gender amongst other things. We actively seek to advance our understanding of our stunning, incredible universe, from a natural perspective. A universe that does not need a supernatural creator to explain it's existence, nor how it functions. We also meetup socially for fun, entertainment and outings, everyone is welcome to join us.

See all- Stand with us: Assisted Dying Rally, London, 29 April – be there!Parliament Square, London
The fight for a compassionate assisted dying law needs you. On Monday, 29 April, 15:30-16:30, Humanists UK, Association of Black Humanists and other groups will be rallying in Parliament Square, London. Will you stand with us, and demand a more compassionate law for people who are terminally ill or incurably suffering?
The public has spoken: enough is enough. This is about basic human rights – the right to die with dignity when faced with unendurable pain and suffering. Our rally is strategically timed to coincide with a critical Westminster Hall debate – a pivotal moment in our fight. Your presence will send a powerful message to those politicians: we will not rest until compassion prevails.
We will provide banners and placards, and will be joined by My Death, My Decision and other members of the Assisted Dying Coalition. Bring your friends, family, and loved ones – the more voices, the stronger our message. Let's show Parliament just how overwhelming the support for change really is. Be bold, be seen, be heard. If this issue is particularly close to your heart, sign up today, and meet us in Parliament Square, London, Monday 29th April, 15:30-16:30.
SHARE ON X
Let's flood social media with messages of compassion for terminally ill and incurably suffering people. Tell all your friends, family, and followers that you're taking a stand and attending our Assisted Dying Rally on X and Facebook. The more people we can reach, the better.

Was Jesus a real person? Nobody knows for sure. Leaving aside Christians and other faith based believers, academics are split into two main camps;
1. those who think a person (or people) called Jesus lived
2. those who believe Jesus was a myth,Matthew Britt and Jaaron Wingo, are co-authors of the US Amazon #1 Top New Release book - Christ Before Jesus. In it they use computerised stylometric analysis on the New Testament books, and compared them to Greek texts from 100 BCE - 300 CE. Did this computer analysis produce a definitive answer to the question "Was Jesus a real person?", join us on the 14 May 2024 and decide for yourself. The co-authors of the book "Christ Before Jesus" will make an online presentation and answer questions from the audience.
The co-authors claim there will be no conspiracies, no ancient riddles, no secret knowledge, just logic and investigation. Researchers Matthew Britt and Jaaron Wingo examine the evidence for a historical Jesus, Paul, and other New Testament figures, using computerised stylometric analysis to uncover the second-century origins of the Christian religion.
