Prince Charles Cinema is showing this classic Japanese animated film in its 2008 re-released version. One of my favourite films, it combines an intricate action plot with amazing images and a surprising philosophical message.
"A stunning feat of modern animation, Ghost in the Shell offers a thoughtful, complex treat for anime fans, as well as a perfect introduction for viewers new to the genre." (Rotten Tomatoes)
Set in the year 2029 where the world is an interconnected electronic network, female cyborg officer Major Kusanagi is out to catch The Puppet Master, a hacker, who can even hack human minds to rob them of their memories. As the story develops, Kusanagi starts to wonder if there is more to her than the sum of her machine parts.
The film starts at 1:30 pm. Consider booking your ticket in advance (click here). We will meet from 1pm outside the Prince Charles Cinema (look for the Meetup sign) and go for a drink after the film.
This is the group to join if you like to watch films in London and meet new people. There is always an opportunity to socialise with the other members before and after the films.
We go to see a wide variety of films, including both the new releases and classic films. There are events on weekdays evenings and also at weekends. We use various cinemas, usually in central London.
Please contact Mark / Rakhee if you are interested in organising film events for this group.
