Film Description ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Starring

Leonardo DiCaprio, Jon Favreau, Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, Rob Reiner, Margot Robbie, Joanna Lumley

Director

Martin Scorsese

Synopsis

Scorsese and DiCaprio team up again for the blackly comic true story of a hedonistic and corrupt Wall Street stockbroker. Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a clever young man with ambition to burn. For him, greed isn't just good - it's great! Mentored by Mark Hanna (Matthew McConaugey), Belfort proceeds to tear up Wall Street during the nineties. He works hard, earning nearly a million dollars a week. And he also plays hard, enjoying a blizzard of drugs, drink, sex, parties and expensive toys. But pride comes before a fall. And Belfort's 'pump and dump' boiler room scam is about to lead to a mighty comeuppance. Adapted by 'Boardwalk Empire' creator Terence Winter from Belfort's own memoirs, this 'GoodFellas' of the financial world has been a long-cherished project for director Martin Scorsese. He also collaborates with Leonardo DiCaprio for the fifth time. Watch out too for our own Joanna Lumley in a supporting role!

Tickets ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If you have a Cineworld Unlimited card you need to show this at the box office to collect a free ticket. Otherwise please just buy your own ticket in the normal way (if you book online in advance you may be able to get a 10% discount, eg £11.70 instead of £13). Please note extra charge for 3D movies and also for 3D glasses. If you own them please bring them with you. Details of charges on website below.

London Cinema Meetup hosts a lot of events at Cineworld cinemas (usually for seeing the latest releases, most commonly in the West End). If you like watching films regularly (more than once a month) it might be cheaper to buy a Cineworld Unlimited card for £18.90 a month - this allows you to watch as many films as you like at Cineworld cinemas (including the ones we normally use in the West End, in Shaftesbury Avenue or in Haymarket). It also gives you a 10% discount off food and drink bought in the cinemas, and some local discount offers too. There is a cheaper version of the card for £15.90, but this is not valid for the Cineworld cinemas in the West End. Currently there is an offer of getting 'one free month' if you sign up using the promotion code below:

RAF-47FC-23RM-48YF-03WP

This code has to be entered in the payments section under "promotions".
Please check terms and conditions. To obtain a card you can use this website (you will need a digital photo of your face, which will appear on the card to identify you):

This was my first meetup and what a movie, epic, entertaining and pretty funny in places. Have to give credit to Rakhee for arranging everything and it was great to meet everyone afterwards, looking forward to the next one:)

It was my first meetup too, and could not meet anyone in the so called lobby.

This was my first meetup but unfortunately I couldn't meet anyone because this small 'cinema' was fully packed and it was a real adventure just getting in or out. As I didn't know anyone and none of the people at my row was from the meetup I gave up asking everyone around.
I enjoyed the movie itself but the seating plan was terrible and the screen itself was just a bit bigger than a TV so it wasn't the best experience. Hopefully next time it will be in a proper cinema.

At the beginning I also had no idea who was part of the Meetup so I randomly asked around and managed to find a few! Everyone congregated in the lobby after the showing, although I had to disappear quickly and couldn't stay for drinks.

I've been to that cinema a couple times before and with Cineworld it's unfortunately not possible to tell from their website which particular screen a movie is on. Screen 1 at Haymarket is very good, but yeah, screen 3 is one of the dumbest layouts I've ever seen. Why would you put the aisle in the middle where normally the best seats would be?!? ;)

Most entertaining 3 hours in a cinema in a long time. Catching up with my friends from last week's meetup was great too.

Brilliantly and carefully organised as usual by Rakhee, who waited late and alone to ensure all Meetup members had been met. You work so hard, girl! Xx

I will come along, if I've shaken off my cold by then becuase I've wanted to see this movie for a while now. Otherwise, sadly not if I'm still sniffling. Look forward to other events, in that case.

    Utterly excited about this!!
A couple of people from last Sunday's meetup group have been wondering why this movie is an 18. Well... here's a detailed list (full of spoilers!) of the things that led to this rating :o)
