What is the best technical book you've read recently?

"Why Does Software Cost So Much", Tom de Marco. A collection of his old essays. Plus ça change, plus c'est le meme chose....

What is the language or tool that you're most excited about using at the moment?

Scala & Lift. Real separation of view from the gubbins Also (re)learning functional programming. Elegance, power & simplicity.

Software developer. Been around for years and seen fads come and go. But good practice seems to keep coming back to having good people, and learning/delivering iteratively. The rest is just detail.
