Gentle words of wisdom are very powerful. Much soul searching followed. Thank you all.

What I've learned yesterday helped a lot and I have had a better day at school today. :-)

We've discussed a very important topic.
This material should be essential knowledge to all managers and leaders because their presence and interactions have a major impact on the employees. And it is useful for everyone, not only in context of work.
As usual, lots of great, practical stuff to take away from this meet up. Thanks!

Got an exclusive personal touch thanks to a low turnout. We had a go at some absolutely barking exercises (yes, that British humour again ;) to get us into the idea of how NVC works. We followed this with a second exercise in trying to show more directly what happens with and without NVC. In my group we chatted a lot about situations where people's approach didn't follow their intent, muddying the NVC waters. E.g. bosses being overly angry when asking staff to do things, or the very British technique of being really polite when actually telling someone off. Lynn finished off with some discussion and tips on how you should recognize the empathy and motivation of others in order to better facilitate NVC. An excellent complement to Bob Marshall's lectures on NVC (he concentrates more on language techniques and explaining the general precepts of it). And it was really fun that we got to try it out and see the effects for ourselves. Thanks Lynn :)

Really sorry but I can't make this now. Feeling quite ill so I've left work early.
