'DJANGO unchained', £6 @ The Barbican NEW Cinemas

It's cold and miserable outside, and the Barbican offers £6 tickets for Monday movies. I'm going to curl up in one of their comfy armchair (my seat is G8) and enjoy some healthy violence (a 'matter-of'fact' attitude to murder is Tarantino's signature, do not try it at home).

Tarantino turns his hand to the Western and amazingly enough, it convince ME (all but interested in westerns) to go and see it.

The plot is pretty basic: Former slave Django teams up with the bounty-hunter who freed him, to rescue his wife, sold to a violent plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio). They kill all and sundry in the process.

Director: Quentin Tarantino
Writer: Quentin Tarantino

Suggestion for after-movie chats: Camera Cafè & Bar

I enjoy Tarantino, and so expected it to be OK, but I loved it. Christoph Waltz who I loved from Inglorius Basterds did a great role, and what a part for Samuel L Jackson to play !

I second that! Waltz is an amazing actor, loved his Hans Landa character in IB!

Thanks for the organisation! Haven't had the change to meet most of the members but the film was a great choice, enjoyed most parts of it. Yet the prolonged final also stoppped us staying for a beer. Overall ****

It was a nice film with tarantino's twisted sense of humour! Loved it! Thanks for organising it Tiziana. :-)

I discovered why we need a MeetUp sign (or even t-shirt!) - we were sitting at a table beside the entrance, but none of the new people recognised me from the photo.
A veeery long film, gory, funny, a bit weak at times as if they were struggling for ideas and inserted some scenes merely for sensation (although Django's hanging naked body didn't go unappreciated by the female audience, I'm sure). By 11pm, we had developed a serious thirst, which couldn't be drenched because the two only bars had either shut down or stopped serving : [
Thanks to all those who made it on Monday evening, next remember to visit the restrooms BEFORE the film starts ; )

Hi Tiziana, you can find signs under the More button in the section called Files. You just need to print one out before the meetup.

Cool movie, just a bit too long perhaps.
Let's do it again, possibly with a drink afterwards!
Tiziana, it was great to sit next to you! ah ah :)

I'm likely to get there quite early (maybe 6:30?) so will go to the Camera Cafe & Bar (also in Beech St) if anyone is around and wishes to join me.
Looks like this place shuts at 10:30 so may have to look elsewhere for those wishing to socialise after the film.
    See you later!

Wow! We are taking over Cinema 2 *mephistophelian grin*
I'd better ring the bar and reserve a table this time - so we can condemn this unbearable American attitude to violence over a drink

I'd like to see this but I'm busy on Monday evenings...£6 seems like a very good price, I guess Monday is cheap night at the Barbican?

It is, as we just discovered. Don't worry, there are even better offers (£3 movie at The George, on the 28th)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
