Listen to the Moscow Symphony Orchestra playing an all Russian Programme

  • Jan 21, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Come and join me for some Russian music at the Royal Festival Hall on the Southbank. I have 10 specially priced tickets for this concert at £5 each. They are pot-luck tickets, so I don't know where they will be until the evening - could be near or far from the stage! You pay me on the day! Please see important note at the end of description before signing up!

The Moscow City Symphony – Russian Philharmonic makes its Royal Festival Hall debut fresh from a successful world tour.

One of Russia's foremost ensembles, the orchestra is based in Moscow at the International House of Music where it performs over 80 concerts a year – working with such leading artists as Roberto Alagna, Jose Carreras and Maxim Vengerov.

Principal Conductor Dmitri Jurowski, who is also Principal Conductor at the Royal Flemish Opera House in Antwerp, is the youngest member of the legendary Russian musical dynasty.

He will conduct an all-Russian programme of works by Prokofiev and Rachmaninov, which includes a rare chance to hear the dazzling Russian virtuoso Alexander Ghindin.

Sergey Prokofiev: Excerpts from Cinderella
Sergey Prokofiev: Piano Concerto No.3
Interval
Sergey Rachmaninov: Symphony No.2

We will meet near the main entrance. I will mail my mobile nearer the time.

IMPORTANT NOTE: By RSVPing Yes to this event, you are guaranteeing that you will attend. Late changes will not be accepted, so please do not RSVP if you are not sure you can attend or if it is just a maybe. The £5 ticket cost will be payable to me whether you turn up or not! The usual non-attendance customs of the LEC will apply to this event.

Very enjoyable way to spend a Tuesday eve. Great find Tony! Tia thanks for the amazing seats, able to take in the expressions on the musicians faces!

Very sorry but got a bad cold so not sure if I could make it for the event. Hope someone from the waiting list can go instead.

Hi Lila, so sorry to hear that you are not well and wish you a speedy recovery. Clarice has filled your place, so thanks for letting us know in good time!

Made space for someone who is 100% sure they can make it. I will get my own ticket and join the group if I'm coming : )

All 10 of the original 10 Yes folks have confirmed that they are definitely coming, so anyone on the wait list please purchase your own tickets from the box office. I'll email everyone on the list, including Yes, Wait or No with our meeting point and my mobile number later this week so we can socialise afterwards.

I am meeting my three (Amir, Ben, Kuldip) by the main entrance at 7pm as per your initial meeting point. I've got your mobile. See you then.

I suggest that this should be an "open" meetup rather than limited in numbers. Whoever buys a ticket should be able to join the Europeans.

Have the people on the RSVP list bought the tickets from you? Some of them have been known to drop out last minute and given the waiting list I don't think it is fair to reserve tickets for them unless they have already bought them from you.

I have emailed the Yes RSVPs to confirm that they will be attending by the end of tomorrow and if not to change their RSVP to No so that those on the waiting list get moved up. I did put what I thought was a very clear note regarding payment and commitment on the original description, so am hopeful that there will not be any no-shows! Just to be clear, I have these 10 tickets from a completely different source, not from the box office, which is why I cannot extend the formal numbers beyond 10 and they are suitable for any person, as they are not concessionary. As previously stated I am only too happy if others come along having organised their own tickets. If you buy your own, you will get to choose your seat, whereas my 10 could be anywhere as I will only be allocated seats on the day! I will email our meeting point and my mobile number to all on the event nearer the time, so that those on the waiting list who arranged their own tickets can also meet us.

I bought my ticket last week and was told at Southbank that there are literally hundreds of tickets left. I bought mine for £5 on the balcony, loads of tickets for £10 for the balcony were still available so perhaps it is wise for everyone on the waiting list to just go and buy tickets for themselves.

Tia Maria, the regular prices can be as low as £7. The regular price of the ticket for my seat was £10 and I got it with a student discount for £5. The prices can be seen here: https://tickets.southb...=# along with the number of available tickets.
