Spanish tapas and flamenco party

We are introducing a second Spanish evening, a chance to enjoy a nice selection of tapas made of fresh ingredients brought from all over Spain.

Like in most Spanish bars, we will be standing and chatting during dinner, and you will have the chance to learn a little bit more about this fantastic food as a small description of everything that you can taste will be provided. Vegetarian choices will be available too.

We've chosen a place with authentic flamenco atmosphere and we have invited a flamenco singer who will play for us during dinner. So this is your chance to hear the most typical and original rhythms from the southern part of Spain.

After dinner, tables will be moved for those who want to dance while listening spanish top hits among sevillanas, flamenco, latin or pop. In summary, this evening is a great opportunity to meet other Europeans while having the feeling that you are in a most traditional bar in Spain.

Price

The attendance to the dinner party including the flamenco costs 15GBP per person. The price covers all the food and the live music but NOT drinks. You can order drinks separately at the bar. Please bring cash and hand it to Juan at the entrance. Bring exact amount of money to save Juan the hassle of giving change so he can start having fun as soon as possible.

Arrival time

Nearest underground station is Labroke Grove. Get out of the station, turn right, cross the street, follow Lancaster Road, turn left when you reach Portobello Road and you will soon see the restaurant which is situated on Tavistock Road.

Arrive between 19h to 20h, food will be served around 20:30h. At arrival you can meet new Europeans and catch up with those you know already. You can also enjoy some drinks before the food is served. This is not a sit down dinner, tapas will be served while you can still stand and talk to different people.

The bar will stay open for us late in the evening, so don't hesitate to enjoy the party as long as you have a good time.

La Taberna conforms to the picture of a very traditional Spanish bar. The staff and the products are originally from Spain. They have a nice variety of spanish wines (red, white and rosé) and the best beers from Spain. The decor is designed to make visitors feel the authentic atmosphere that attracts Spaniards and the friendly staff will ensure you a pleasent time there.

Only RSVP YES if you are certain that you can come to this event. The London European Club bans members who don't show up to three events. Changing your RSVP in the last 24 hours prior to the event is strongly discouraged.

It was a good night. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Everyone seemed really friendly. Such a shame I got sick the next day from food poisoning or something else.

I checked, and no problem with Ladbroke Grove tube station tonight...

Lucas, thank you for the advice. In fact the attendance in the LEC is about 90% because we have a "no show" ban which works pretty well. Yes, I could ask people to pay upfront through paypal , but then would have to pass on the paypall charges. So it is a dilemma. But the commital shy will be banned anyway, so in the end it should work out although it may take a few more months to wheed them out.

    Hi Pedro,
the limit is 60. we checked with the venue. So I can't increase the numbers I am afraid. I have encouraged confirmed guests to pull out if they can't come, so it is a bit of a gamble at this stage. If people pull out, then of course those on the waiting list can come. I am aware this is a popular event but I can't increase numbers because the venue is not big. I can promise there will be another social :-)

Maja, will those on the waiting list still be able to come if the other confirmed guests pull out? Has the venue given you any leeway to add on more guests?

Please note that Ladbroke Grove tube station is closed this weekend! So, probably best to go to Notting Hill and walk from there!?

The party is NOT in Stratford. It is just off Portobello Road. Nearest underground station is Ladbroke Grove.

Please do not try to add friends if you are already on the yes RSVP list. I am afraid that this event is full. that is the capacity of the restaurant. If you try to add more people you will drop off the RSVP list. Thanks,
    Maja

There are no dancing lessons invloved or any professional dancing. During the flamenco performance there will be no dancing, but we can dance afterwards.

so is there a singer & a flamenco guitarist and dancer as the photo shows?

    February 25, 2011

  • Maja

There are are tables and chairs in the restaurant, but we have asked them to move them around so we could all mingle and dance after the flmanco finishes. You will be able to seat but it is not a sit down dinner, where you are sitting between two people and chatting only to those around you.

    Hi Tugba,

no it is not an "open" event. Normally you can invite 1 friend only, which you should indicate by clicking +1. If your friends want to come, they should become members of London European Club. You can only come if you get on the list, numbers are limited for 2 reasons:
1)availability of space in the venue
2)I don't want meetups that are too big.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
