"Fading Gigolo", Woody Allen, Turturro & Sharon Stone @ Barbican

Turturro's latest movie can hardly be defined 'European' but it touches on themes (aging, single status and sex) which most of us can relate to. Who knows, it might even inspire a new business venture for some of the LEC members! =: 0

Directed by Turturro (multitasker!) , released 2013

Synopsis: florist Fioravante (Turturro) decides to become a professional Don Juan as a way of making money to help his cash-strapped friend, the bookseller Murray (Woody Allen) who has spotted the perfect client in  his dermatologist (Sharon Stone). With Murray acting as his "manager", the duo quickly finds themselves caught up in the crosscurrents of love and money.

Events take an even wilder turn when Murray recommends Fioravante to Avigal (Vanessa Paradis), a melancholy mother of six and the devout widow of a recently deceased Hasidic rabbi. Playing on the borderline of outrage and TMI, it seems that Turturro manages to keep things within the realm of humour, gaining a respectable 'over 15' rating.

To spruce up your Monday, book your ticket here and, if you have the time, stay around after the film, to exchange comments over a drink.

I booked my seat in Row E.

Oh, we had asked several people around the ticket office, and told the lady at the entrance to the seating area. Once sat down, we noticed two ladies sat where you say but thought they couldn't be 'ours'.
Me and Aaron were in E14 and E15, met Victoria afterwards - shame we didn't identify you, Anna.
What did you think of the movie? I thought it was a bit 'thin' but at least it brought up the solitude of the characters in the second half.

Yes it is a great shame that we didn't get to meet! I kept looking around for you guys and saw three ladies sitting in Row E but didn't recognise you amongst them. I thought the film was entertaining even if "fluffy" as you say. I hope we will get to meet at a future event. I work just round the corner so am always up for a 'Monday Madness' film at the Barbican :)

Yes. Create another movie event but this time let's meet before the movie to have some drinks and get to greet.
