As some of you know I sing with Midsummer Opera. As so many of you enjoyed the La Boheme production last week, this is to "step up" the experience and invite you to a full concert opera production of Beethoven's Fidelio on 24th November - featuring full (80 members) orchestra and 50 chorus accompanying excellent soloists for only £16.
The Midsummer Opera (http://www.midsummeropera.org.uk) is a registered charity with interest in widening participation in opera through educational activities and promoting classical music by performing first-class full scale operatic pieces with excellent soloists (e.g. John Upperton who sings Florestan is a soloist at Royal Opera and ENO) at a resonable price.
Fedelio is Beethoven's only opera - about love (they all are), heriosm, passion (they all are), oppression and fight for freedom.
Come to find out how beautiful Leonora deceives top security guards to enter a political prison to save her lover Florestan unjustly imprisoned without a trial.
While set in the 19th century historical background – doesn’t it resemble our times? ;-)
There is a special offer of 20% OFF the downstairs seats: £16 (gallery seats are £12)
To receive the offer call the MSO box office on[masked] and quote “Meetup.com-LEC” (credit/debit cards).
To avoid disappointment, the Guaranteed Discount Booking Period is until 18th November 2012, after that it depends on tickets availability.
Background and highlights of the 20 years of MSO history could be found: http://www.midsummeropera.org.uk/aboutus.html
The opera is sung in German so it might be advisable to buy programmes with the full libretto and word-by-word translation into English (there is no surtitles facility in the venue).
The bar in the venue will open at 6:30pm - let's meet up for a drink straight in the church beforehand.
I’ll join you for a drink after the performance - I'll definitely deserve it and I'm sure you too :-)
