London European Club Message Board › November newsletter from the London European Club
This message board is read-only.
I hope you are as excited about November as I am. Not just because I am going to Sicily with some of you on the 10th, a trip which is promising to be fantastic under Penny Lane's guidance and leadership.
November is looking like a very exciting month in the European Club. We already have 14 events announced in the calendar and I know that there are a few more in the making.
From watching the US elections as they happen on the 6th, to going to some really cool concerts, this Club is as vibrant as ever. Talking about concerts, we have the following offering:
http://www.meetup.com/London-European-Club/events/89354712/ (just announced by Marcin)
http://www.meetup.com/London-European-Club/events/89209412/ (hosted by Grae together with the Jazz meetup)
http://www.meetup.com/London-European-Club/events/80475122/ (hosted by Ana)
Then we have our regular European movie night, hosted by Marion on the 19th of November, when we'll be showing the Greek movie "A touch of Spice"
49 nine of you seem to be Opera Lovers, going to see La Boheme.
Claudia who is hosting this meetup tells me that you will be taking over the theater. To which I'd respond: Today the theater, the Parliament in near future
Talking about the Parliament, it voted today to give less money to the EU. I am sure those of you who are eurosceptics will be delighted with the vote. I on the other hand look forward to the the talk on the Future of the Union where we'll be hearing how Wales plans to go forward. Hopefully while still receiving the same amount of EU funds. ttp://www.meetup.com/London-European-Club/events/88674332/
I hope all of you who went mushroom picking with me survived and learned something useful. For the survivors Andy is hosting two great walks in November:
I know, they are full and there is a waiting list but I can assure you that there will be last minute colds/guests/lost homework so if you really want to go you will be able to attend.
For those amongst you who like to practice night time photography, there is a lovely meetup on the 17th of November http://www.meetup.com/London-European-Club/events/86899742/ Hosted by Anna and Liam it is promising to be truly enchanting.
I could go on listing each and every meetup but I know that many of you visit the web site daily (yes I can see that) and I hope you will choose something of interest. If you have become a member of the Club recently, the best things is to come along and see if it is right for you. If on the other hand, you haven't been for a while, come along and reconnect with members old and new.
Despite all my efforts to grow the Club slowly and to delete inactive profiles we have grown to over 2000 members, which is great, but it also means that we need more organisers, to spot fantastic European themed events and to host them. Please do not send me suggestions for pub crawls, wine and cheese tasting and treasure hunts. There are plenty of other groups that host such events, the main focus of this Club is listed under About Us on the front page. This Club is about debating Europe and promoting different European cultures through a wide range of activities. That means it has a wide scope, but it also means that we are choosy about the events we host. We take pride in the fact that our events are being copied by other groups (immitation is the best form of flattery), but we try to never copy other meetups.
Europeans I hope you'll enjoy November in the European Club and otherwise.
