Kwaidan (Dir: Masaki Kobayashi , 1964, Japan, Cert PG, 183 mins) is a 1964 Japanese anthology horror film directed by Masaki Kobayashi. Based on stories from Lafcadio Hearn's collections of Japanese folk tales, mainly Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things. The film consists of four separate and unrelated stories. The Black Hair, Hoichi The Earless, In a Cup of Tea and The Woman of The Snow. Kwaidan is an archaic translation of Kaidan, meaning "ghost story”.
