Andy Mellon leads this exciting new collaboration featuring fellow Bellowhead musicians Brendan Kelly and Pete Flood, UK folk's rising star Sam Carter, Middle East music specialist Giles Lewin and one of Scotland's most innovative musicians, Corrina Hewat. Shifting Sands is an ongoing project that explores the musical roots of both the UK and the Middle East.

Joined by musicians from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Yemen and UAE, the group creates new material inspired by their respective traditions. The sea has emerged as a central theme that links the various members' musical cultures; sea shanties from the British Isles and pearl diving and fishing songs from the Arabian sea.Celebrate the start of Richard Thompson's Meltdown with this Friday Tonic special from the Ballroom's bandstand stage.
