A weekend bushcraft meetup in the woods

If i were to host a weekend bushcraft gathering just outside west london (in buckinghamshire /just off the m25) for some time in late november or early december....would anyone be up for it?

I'm a bushcraft instructor so i could run sessions or people could just hang out and enjoy being outside with like minded people with a penchant for green clothing and fires :)

Paul, did you see my last minute email to change the day to sunday? That would mean that a few more people can come. Apologies for the messing around!

      December 7, 2012

  • Matt

Hi, I have to decided to change this to a one day event due to lack of interest. Those that are coming are very welcome and we'll still be able to get loads done on saturday.

Hi Matt, if it comes down to a one day, I am still up for it, whatever the weather....

    December 6, 2012

    • Matt

great, i'll speak to you tomorrow

      December 6, 2012

  • Matt

Hi all, looks as though half the people who were going to come have decided not to after all.

Can anyone that is intending to come confirm that they are coming?. I would prefer to know how many to expect on saturday.

If your worried about the weather, don't be, Bushcraft is all about knowing how to be comfortable outdoors, whatever the weather.

However, if the consensus is to do it some other time then that's ok with me.

    Thanks

Hi Keith, i live in Twickenham (not too far from reading on the train), if you can get there then i can give you a lift?

      December 1, 2012

    • Keith T.

Hi Matt, Many thanks for the offer but I am no longer free for that weekend. Twickenham would have been perfect, as I work there. I will be eagerly awaiting your next meetup. Hopefully see you then.

    Add to that list

A closed cell foam sleeping mat / thermarest to sleep on

Hi Theresa, There is not cost but you will need t bring your own food, water and other items.

Here is a list of items that I would recommend that everyone bring

    Sleeping Bag

Tent / Other shelter (We can build debris shelters If you fancy it and I have a few Tarps that I can lend out)

    Warm Clothing

    Sturdy Footware

    Water Proof Jacket

    Wooly Hat

    Plate/Bowl/Mug/Knife/Fork/Spoon/Pan

    Small Personal First Aid Kit

    Food - Lunch x2, Evening Meal x1, Breakfastx1

    Drinking water

A Knife if you have one

    Torch / Headtorch

Any other useful or interesting items that you want to bring

I have quite a lot of bit's and pieces at the site so don't worry if you don't have everything, we'll manage.

There is a Pub just along the road from the woods but there is not much else in Flaunden, it's quite remote.

Hi, it looks like the only timeI have is 8/9.
    Paul :-)

    November 19, 2012

  • Matt

Ok so i guess this is the hard part, setting a date.

I can do the 8/9th December but am flexible. So we also have the 24/25 nov
    1/2 Dec

The site that i'm proposing is pretty nice and has a woodshed with a stove in it if it's really cold. There are deer and pretty much every other woodland animal there, plenty of places to camp and we can do anything that we want there.

Your going to need to bring your own stuff with you for camping, cooking etc...

If anyone is going to attempt to get there by public transport, the nearest tube is Chalfont and Latimer, from there it is about 3km to the woods. I can pick people up if they need it. If your driving then there is parking at the Bricklayers Arms in Flaunden which is pretty close.

Hi, I'd love to come along as well if I can make it. Also my first time bushcrafting! The weekend of the 8th/9th Dec would be good for me! =)

I'd definitely be up for it depending on the date. Also this would be my first event in bushcraft so I would need some guidance!! :)
