"Panda And Polar Bear" Comic Art & Photography Exhibition

"Panda And Polar Bear" Comic Art & Photography Exhibition

This Saturday, a fuzzy little exhibition featuring comic art and photography by the "Panda And Polar Bear" will be taking place in Camden Town.

The creative couple - Dave and Louise's cute story began in 2009, when an English alien landed in Taiwan to shoot the local metal band Chthonic at the Free Tibet concert - blessed by Dalai Lama they believed - he fell in love with the Taiwanese girl who was appointed to look after him, asked if he could kiss her, and they've been together ever since.

English humour started it all

Taiwanese have a reputation for seriousness and hard work, and the transformation from a working woman to a homemaker in a different country is never easy. However, Louise soon found the Londoner's life-style very interesting and easy-going. English humour, harmless sarcasm and liberal thinking, all of these adorable western characters make their way into the comic which is the couple's life story.

The Birth of Panda And Polar Bear
Panda And Polar Bear document stories from heart-warming moments to silly situations when the east and west meet, aiming to bring smile to everyone, in a very cute hand-drawn comic style. Artist Louise Wei uses both Western Calligraphy and Eastern Asian Calligraphy in comic making, like the story and her real life, everything is in a wonderful big cultural mixer.

Their fans started from family and friends soon spread to all over the world. This 4 month old comic series has been invited to exhibit, they have commissioned art and merchandise, and they've made it on to the homepage of an Art Gallery-Community website and Facebook Page, people starting to use their drawings as profile pictures and some have even made fan-art as a gift to their beloved ones.

Street Photography by a Camden Towner

These photos form a selection of Dave's favourite photos of Camden taken over the last few years. Never without a camera in his pocket, Dave is always ready to take a shot if the situation demands, which it often does. Camden often has random notable things happening.

He has studied photography under Boo Beaumont at the University of Bath and locally at Central St. Martins and has taught several courses in London and Taipei.
