London Historical Fiction Book Group Message Board › Historical Fiction Book Group - Venue discussion
The venue is unchanged for this coming Monday's meetup, but we are likely to have to find somewhere else going forward.
I therefore thought it would be helpful to mention this a few days before the meetup so everyone has a little time to think about it and we can then discuss on Monday evening.
I am more than a little annoyed with the venue because today, on confirming our booking for Monday and for our next two meetups, the bar team "reminded" me that for group bookings of more than 10 people, there is a minimum spend of £10 per person!!
I pointed out that this policy not only was not communicated to me when I made the booking but has also never been communicated on any of the many previous times we've booked and met there and has never been enforced.
I insisted that they honour their commitment for Monday evening because it was too short notice to change the venue. However, they've said that for future bookings the policy will apply.
I therefore think that we need to think about a new venue. So please could everyone put their thinking caps on and/or ask around.
It needs to be somewhere central, near a tube, able to have a quiet-ish area booked at the time we need it, either for free or for a very small charge that can be easily shared amongst those attending.
Feel free to give me your ideas on Monday evening, respond by email or on the message board on our Meetup page.
Thanks to all.
